Default Stephen "tWitch" Boss Dies at 40

He committed suicide. I liked him as host of The Real Dirty Dancing which aired on FOX earlier this year.

Wow, I didn't see that coming, he always seemed so positive and happy. Very tragic.

Shocking and devastating news. I loved him on SYTYCD? and his partnership with his future wife Allison brought magic to the screen. My heartfelt condolences to his widow and their children...

Stephen "tWitch" Boss' Family and Friends Call Out Widow Allison Holker over Tell-all Memoir
by Lauren Huff
January 7, 2025

Family and friends of the late Stephen "tWitch" Boss are speaking out over his widow Allison Holker's tell-all memoir and its related press, calling it a "smear campaign."

The comments on social media cropped up on Tuesday after a new interview with PEOPLE in support of her forthcoming memoir, This Far (out Feb. 4), in which Holker claimed that Boss — who took his own life at age 40 in December 2022 — had hidden a "cornucopia" of drugs, including mushrooms, pills and "other substances” she had to "look up," inside his shoeboxes, which she found after his passing.

I was with one of my really dear friends, and we were cleaning out the closet and picking out an outfit for him for the funeral,” Holker, 36, told the outlet.

It was a really triggering moment for me because there were a lot of things I discovered in our closet that I did not know existed. It was very alarming to me to learn that there was so much happening that I had no clue [about]. It was a really scary moment in my life to figure that out, but it also helped me process that he was going through so much and he was hiding so much, and there must have been a lot of shame in that.

Family friend Courtney Ann Platt shared a photo of the story on her Instagram on Tuesday, with a lengthy caption slamming the memoir and the claims.

"Anyone who knows me, knows I go straight to source during a conflict and handle my business but since there’s clearly no shame in being so public, I haven’t said a word in two years but here I go," she began.

Platt, who said she was there the day Holker and Boss got engaged and later when they got married, slammed the book and its press as "by far the most tacky, classless, opportunistic act I have ever seen in my entire life.

She continued, "We all had to sign some weird NDA to attend his funeral (even his own mother who you’ve treated like garbage this entire time and let’s just remember you wouldn’t have even had a husband if it wasn’t for her) not to share anything or ruin his name as if that was on anyone’s mind in the first place and here you go and write a book with all the dirty laundry smearing his name and attempting to dim the bright loyal, loving, light that was your husband, my friend."

Platt also took issue with "publishing a book shamelessly sharing the pages" of Boss’ journal. "What a joke. Yes, he took his own life which is a fact all of us still can’t fathom and he was clearly having mental health issues, hurting so deeply and this is your example of empathy? Of your love?” she added.

Platt concluded, "This smear campaign for a buck is absolutely not what he would have ever wanted. No matter how bad he was hurting. Not for second. You’re a living, breathing bulldozer. Stick to your own demons. Shame on you Allison, shame on your money hungry team. Let my friend Rest in Peace not your PR.

Boss' brother, Dré Rose, then shared a snap of Platt's post on his Instagram Stories with the caption: "No lies told..."

While he hasn't shared a post of his own, Rose has also reposted many other similar stories from others slamming the memoir and its claims.

Stephen 'tWitch' Boss' Mom Slams "Hurtful" Claims from Widow Allison Holker: "He Doesn't Deserve This"
by Shania Russell
January 9, 2025

The mother of Stephen 'tWitch' Boss is breaking her silence one day after her late son's widow, Allison Holker, revealed details about her husband's drug use ahead of her tell-all memoir.

Although Connie Boss Alexander did not specifically name Holker in her Thursday Instagram post, she didn't mince words while addressing the rumors surrounding her son.

"Our family is absolutely appalled by the misleading and hurtful claims made about my son, Stephen Boss," Alexander began her statement. "The recent publications spreading untruths about Stephen have crossed every line of decency. As his mother, I will not let these accusations go unanswered."

Speaking for the whole family, she added, "We will not stand by while his name and legacy are tarnished. He doesn’t deserve this, and the kids don’t deserve this."

Allison Holker says Stephen 'tWitch' Boss Changed After an Ayahuasca Trip
by Emlyn Travis
February 4, 2025

Allison Holker says Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss was never the same after he tried ayahuasca. She explained on a recent episode of The Jamie Kern Lima Show that her late husband, who died by suicide in December 2022, was negatively impacted by the experience.

I think it was a very big turning point for him,” Holker said. “I feel like his heart was never really in the same place when he came back. He still could find joy, and he could still go day-by-day putting on his face and getting through the days, but there was something missing in his eyes.

She continued, “It just kind of feels like he opened something up to himself that he never healed. And never fully escaped.

Holker went on to state that while she will “always celebrate Stephen,” she has to be careful about how she chooses to honor him moving forward.

I think he was a wonderful person and I’m really sad what he went through, but I also have to be careful because I can’t celebrate so much of his choice,” she explained. “And that's a really fine line I have to walk as a mother right now is because [the kids] are very hurt by their father's decision.

Holker noted that their three children “have a lot of triggers that they have to be in therapy now to really work through” following Boss’ death.

But what I am impressed with is that they are doing the work, and they are putting in the time, and they are finding joy in life, and they are finding laughter again,” she continued. “But there's a lot to unpack for them that they'll have to deal with for the rest of their lives.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, ayahuasca is a “hallucinogenic tea” known for its spiritual and medicinal properties that has been used by communities living in South America for centuries.

While the drug affects everyone differently, its symptoms range anywhere from euphoria and visual or auditory hallucinations to anxiety, vomiting, and chest pains.
