I think Princess Di's death shocked me the most, because of it's suddenness.
It was also shocking when John Lennon was shot. |

One thing I've been noticing, and I'm glad you created this thread so I can mention it without risking dishonoring specific deceased parties...is how the obits always claim that "so-and-so passed while surrounded by their family and loved ones" and to me that just sounds so fabricated.
I've known a lot of people who passed, and the vast vast majority of them go at off hours, often in the middle of the night in their sleep. BUT these press releases make it sound like there was some standing vigil gathered round the bed, holding their hand as they departed. Just don't think they ALL are quite that way? Is there some etiquette book out there that just instructs: "claim this is so, even if it ain't?" |

Probably Michael Jackson in 2009. This was before I-phones and opened up my computer to read the news and there it was.
I always have found him fascinating because he was so crazy. Like everyone else, I did not expect him to die and felt sort of robbed he isnt still alive today to see what insanity he is into (or how broke he would have become). Would he have been arrested again for pedophilia? Would he have done any music anyone would listen to? I felt sorry for the man in many ways, he had no privacy unless he hid behind a locked gate, never had a childhood, had an abusive father, suffered from depression and other mental issues. was regressive in childhood, a laughingstock, and more than likely a pedophile (at worst, at best, having children as friends which was inappropriate to say the least.) I saw a documentary and if it was true (and think it was), Michael Jackson was actually sickly and his body was breaking down before the drug overdose. He was supposed to do a 50 concert performance at an arena in London. Basically probably doing five concerts a week for three months. In the documentary, a doctor said that he would not have made it and would have had to cancel or die trying. He was only 50 but had the body of an elderly man. |

First person to come to my mind is John Ritter. He was only 54.
Sept. 12, 2003 -- Popular TV and movie star John Ritter has died from an undetected flaw in his heart called an aortic dissection. |

Sammi Lane Kraft who played the girl pitcher in the remake of the Bad News Bears in 2005 died in a car accident at the age of 20. I did not know this until reading now, but her driver was intoxicated. This was ten years ago, I didnt know this was so long ago. |
