Bebe or Shelley? Poll?

I want to set some things straight, for my own satisfaction. I feel I have to make this poll to see if Bebe has surpassed Shelley in fans... just to prove my theory that this newfound infactuation is in reality just the "in fad."

I've truly been taken back by the number of people who have randomly bursted out their adoration for the woman I've worshipped for years! If it's just a passing fad, I'll be so sad, because I feel the hype will go down once the hype of Tadpole does. That saddens me, having been a true blue fan nearly all my life... Don't get me wrong, I'm glad she has up and coming fans... I just hope it's not because it's the "cool thing" to like Bebe at this given moment.

Sorry, just needed to vent. Ah, that felt good. Take my poll!

I agree strongly but case in point, I never really payed attention
to Bebe Neuwirth. Although after being exposed to her career I now I am a person who jumps up and down when I see Ms. Neuwirth on T.V.It wouldnt really be fair to state So and so is a better actress. Because both Shelley and Bebe are very talented women. But I do agree, unfortunetaly, this may be a fad among us posters.

Bebe Neuwirth is of course a much better actress.

I am not a "devoted fan" of hers, but she is usually very good in everything I've seen her in, such as Malice or Say Anything and I like what she brings to the screen. (Son of Sam was a little hard to take, but she was good).

Interestingly, when I went to go see "Chicago" on Broadway in 1990/2000 (not sure) Bebe was not part of the cast, not in the program or anything. But to my great surprise there was an insert with her listed as taking the place of the regular actress for the performance. I was really psyched and she was great.

And not for nothing (do as you please), you guys should try to talk a little more about Cheers once in a while and not just Bebe.

Bebe, but not because it's some sort of 'fad'.... I chose to like her on my own... well.... with a little help from my friend. We were making a movie and we wanted our characters to be very different, so she said she would be ditzy and she suggested I be like Lilith. At first, I went 'No, I don't want to be stuffy like that' but then I decided it would be fun. So we watched some episodes of Cheers for personality ideas and then I just... became a Bebe fan!

I have also chosen Bebe, but it's not a 'fad' thing for me. The first episode of Cheers I ever saw was "The Stork Brings A Crane", when Lilith has Frederick during Cheers 200th year celebration. From there I fell in love with her character. This was back in March. Since then I have found this Cheers board, which I absolutely adore, and have researched my favorite character. As soon as I learned how to use the avatars I jumped for a Bebe pic, not because everyone else was, but because she's the reason I began watching Cheers and because she's just great in everything she does.

I'm really sorry if it seems like I'm copying you. I think I started writing on the boards just when this Bebe 'fad' began. I promise you I'm not trying to copy anyone; I'm not trying to just fit in. Bebe is absolutely terrific!!

Also, the reason I voted for Bebe was because she had a harder role to bring to life. When I watched the E! True Hollywood Story (which I'm not sure is completely true), it said that Shelley was almost a carbon copy of Diane Chambers behind the scenes. Now, I couldn't see Bebe acting (in real life) as Lilith. Plus, Bebe has such a well rounded career, and has taken part in some terrific movies and plays, while mostly all of Shelleys movies weren't as big. (Sorry if I'm offending any Shelley fans, but I'm only saying what I've learned from TV shows and stating what my beliefs are!)

I will admit that I to have been amazed by the recent Bebe explosion. It did seemingly come out of nowhere. I'm not saying none of you are true fans, it's just that not many of you made that public.

With that said, I would say that Bebe would be a much more well rounded actress. All I really have to base Shelley Long's career is her Cheers years and a handfull of so-so movies.

Shelley is misunderstood. E! true hollywood story makes everything look worse than they are. I know Shelley hasn't a great movie career.

They're both talented actresses, but Shelley Long gets my vote. She just holds my interest more, and I think she's a better actress.
I also agree that this board is becoming all Bebe, all the time. It's the Bebe Board which is fine if it stays light....however, there are long-winded posts about someone changing their avator, posters being accused of harrassing others about Bebe, etc.
Personally, I think there are a few who are just obsessed with Bebe, plain and simple. They manufacture reasons and arguments (such as the avatar thing) to bring her name up. I'm all for talking about an actress' talents, but this, "I'm taken back...I need to vent...stop the harrassment" BS is really getting on my nerves.
Obsess all you want, but nobody should get pissy with other posters over imagined incidents. I think it can be sort of cute when someone talks about their favorite star a lot, but when it takes the turn it's taken recently, with accusations and the like, it turns me off. It's unnecessary defensive behavior.

I'm sorry if you feel "imagined incidents" occured, however you did not read some of the pms both Alanna and I recieved, which we may have blew out of proportion to some extent, due to the fact we're both extremely sensitive... but did border on harrassment. I won't go into identities for reasons of privacy, but I was getting pms from people I didn't even know existed. All over Alanna's name change and the fact I've "converted everyone" and some Shelley fans were very angry at me! If that isn't harrassment, I don't know what is. I didn't do anything wrong... all I've ever done is express my adoration towards Bebe. I can't control people's interests and minds... they can choose to like Shelley or Bebe all their own. Personally, I don't know why it has to be either or. Yes, I do prefer Bebe as an actress, but I enjoy Shelley as an actress as well! I've been getting pms from several unmentioned Shelley fans who have bitched off about how stupid Bebe is to me and that I shouldn't make others like her over Shelley. Is THAT fair? No. I was frustrated. I was not bringing up "imagined incidents" to get Bebe's name around! I don't have to advertise for her... I'm not her publicist.

As for the kool-aid bit and such, that was all in good fun. Joking about the rush of fans... the million Bebe avatars, etc... that's not what had me and Alanna upset. It was the stuff behind the scenes. I couldn't be happier all these people think Bebe's great... more people to talk about her and her work to. So, sorry if we bore you frustration with our "whiny" posts, JanLady. We were quite frustrated ourselves, however. Also, I tried to delete my initial post about the harrassment, but it wouldn't let me delete it, so I just edited. I figured if we let it go, it would die down and people would just stop... but, it seems people keep digging up old dirt.

You should have saved and forwarded the PMs to TJ. He certainly would've done something about the harrassment situation. I think that solution would have been better than creating new threads accusing posters of harrassment. No mention was made of PMs in those threads. I'm not implying they didn't exist. I'm saying, without the mention of the PMs, the threads/posts came off like accusations against your fellow posters. We were given nothing to go on, just a plea to stop.....
Your "whiny" posts didn't "bore" me. They pissed me off. I don't take kindly when posters start in with accusations and the like.

I'm not looking to fight or argue. I've had a long day, and this is not what I wanted to come home to read. I come to this board to discuss/debate random topics about different shows. I do not come here to receive a million random pms/emails a day accusing me of things that are beyond my control. Perhaps I shouldn't have just said pms, because people have emailed me too. And perhaps I didn't make my initial post clear enough and a miscommunication was formed. I wasn't accusing everyone to stop! There are fights on so many boards at SO... let's not start one on this board. I'm sorry for pissing you off, but I was frustrated at the time as well. As I said previously... I TRIED deleting it thereafter, but it would not let me. I'll email TJ and ask him to if you'd like. You've expressed dislike towards me in the past, and that's your perogative. Let's just try to keep peace on this board. Not just us, everyone. If someone doesn't the same thing as you, so be it! Agree to disagree... we all have a right to our own opinions.

I don't dislike Shelley, so can whoever it is sending me the random hate emails regarding Bebe, just please stop! (I don't know who it is, but they said they were from here, and it's a hotmail account so I can't trace you down!) Just stop, it's beyond 'entertaining'... it's just ridiculous! They're freaking people! Who the hell cares?! You could love Britney Spears for all I care, and even though I don't particulary care for the woman, I wouldn't give you hell about it because I find Christina Aguilera more talented. I mean, they're people! I don't enjoy coming home to a mail box full of, "Bebe sucks"... it's tiresome. I'm just deleting them now, so suit yourself. I wash my hands... I give up. If this whole ordeal doesn't die down SOON, I just want to leave. Can't we just go back to discussing Cheers and healthy debates over issues... not take life so seriously... it's a show, they're people. As far as not liking you, I honestly don't know what you're referring to. Maybe you have me confused with someone else. I don't recall mixing it up with anyone on this board. I enjoy reading your posts.

I think you can block certain mail from the internet, at least AOL has that feature. Maybe you can block that hotmail harrasser until he/she tires out.
