Happy 60th to a fellow fan of Black Sabbath.
You know,..."60" is a big milestone. You can not ever pretend to think you are young again, once you hit 60. Wear it proudly, lots of folks never make it. |

Thanks, I don't like to think I've entered my 60's, just that I'm in my last year of being in my 50's!
I don't think I'm "old", just very active. I'm about to go to the fitness center. How old am I? Old enough to have seen AC/DC and Cheap Trick open for Ted Nugent AND Van Halen open for Black Sabbath in the same month in 1978. Old enough to know NOT to listen to all the millennial pop acts, boy bands, and girl groups.

It's almost therapeutic in a way to be 64 and all alone, while listening to the old Beatles tune "When I'm 64".....especially if there are people in one's past you are actually thankful to have parted company with. Gives you a "survivor" perspective.

Black Sabbath is now over fifty years old. The group started in 1970, the year the Beatles broke up. They never did, but could have played Ed Sullivan, that is how ancient they are.
The rock stars of the classic rock era of the 1970's-1980's are dying off. Christine McVee of Fleetwood Mac died. Then recently was Eddie Van Halen of Van Halen, David Bowie, Tom Petty, Neil Peart the drummer of Rush, Walter Becker of Steely Dan. There are others I am forgetting, and this kind of music isnt coming back. It is a wonder that Ozzy is still alive, but he is old now and all the partying and substance abuse has finally caught up with him. I will say lastly that the members of Sabbath in the 1970's wore the ugliest, silliest clothes, and this comes from an era of ugly and silly clothing. Made me ask, didnt these guys have girlfriends/wives? Or promoters/handlers? Or was everyone blown on cocaine then? Cocaine is some bad doo doo, dont do it. |

I did listen to the audio-book by Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath, and he has had an amazing set of adventures. But now that Black Sabbath ended their career over five years ago, it's hard to have that same enthusiasm about metal when we were younger. To be honest, I am listening to country. |
