How did Merv Griffin Productions end up with a griffin as its logo? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

As I adore getting into my new hobby of learning about television company histories one logo that I discovered and wanted to know more about was the logo for Merv Griffin Productions and I always wanted to know how the griffin logo came to be? I do know it's due to Merv Griffin's last name being Griffin but were griffins Merv's favorite mystical creature as well? I liked this logo because I adore mystical creatures such as dragons and seeing the logo makes me want to own a plush griffin myself. I also noticed when the logo appeared on old episodes of Wheel Of Fortune Jeopardy and certain other shows the griffin's eye seems to wink or blink several times and it makes me think that the logo is animated and the winking/blinking eye is a nice touch
