The marriage of Beth and Rip last season has me wondering just how long this “blessed” union will last?
The ultra-assertive Ms. Dutton has been “somewhat” promiscuous and “somewhat” dipsomaniacal in the past, especially whenever she was burning rubber around the Yellowstone Ranch and town in her top-of-the-line Mercedes Benz. Beth Dutton-Wheeler sort of reminds me as being a current day Mary Ellen Rogers from “Leave it to Beaver” or possibly even a modern day Ellie May Clampett from “The Beverly Hillbillies.” (Although, the language Beth Dutton-Wheeler employs on “Yellowstone” is just “slightly” more “colorful” than the language Ms. Rogers or Ms. Clampett ever employed on their respective television shows.) And, Yellowstone Ranch foreman Rip Wheeler is an unfailingly “pleasant” and “convivial” fellow. Yes, Rip greatly reminds me of that extremely polite, All-American boy, Wally Cleaver from LITB. No doubt, Rip was an Eagle Scout, just like the oldest Cleaver son was. Seeing the newlywed Rip and Beth Wheeler is heartwarming, indeed. I predict Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler’s marriage will be as “joyous” and “serene” (not to mention “long-lasting”) as the blessed unions of: Ernest Borgnine and Ethel Merman (That pairing lasted all of two days.) Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger (A real-life War of the Roses.) Bill and Hillary Clinton (These two “love birds” made Ronald Reagan and Jane Wyman seem like Harry and Bess Truman by comparison.) So, the best of luck to Beth and Rip, the modern day Messalina and Claudius of the Big Sky State! |
