I was just wondering who here is either in college or will be starting this fall. I am going to be starting in 2 weeks as a Freshman and was wondering if anyone else who is just starting is as confused and nervous as I am. I have no idea what to expect or anything. I am excited about going though.

well, i'm not starting, but i'm already there. this is my third year (and i even took a year off). seriously though, don't worry about things. everyone there is new with you, so people are feeling each other out trying to make friends, etc. as for classes, i don't know what your major is, but they're work... but i don't consider it all that bad. i'm sure you'll do fine!

Thanks for the info! Everyone tells me not to sweat it, but I can't help it. It really helps to hear someone already there say it's not too bad. It's not the social part I'm worried about, that part will be awesome, Im already involved in stuff there, but as far as classes I didn't know what to expect. Thanks again!

Yeah, I'm going to be starting my third year of college in two weeks. I was nervous when I first started too, but once you get used to it you find out that it really isn't that bad. The nicest thing is that you're not treated like a kid anymore, and you can use your own judgment to decide if you want to go to class, leave a little early, etc. The freedom is great! And the teachers (most of them, anyways) show you some respect. I think you'll enjoy it.

I haven't decided yet. I'll either start in the fall or summer at the Art Institute of Seattle.

I start the fall semester on August 26. One piece of advice, you have to invest most of your time to studying, that way you won't fall behind and your GPA won't go down. Otherwise, it's fun.

I am a lifer. LOL I'm going to start my 5th year on the 26th, and frankly I'm tired of it.
But thinking back to my first day in 98...I was too homesick to be nervous. But that first day was seriously the longest day of my life. However, once you get used to it, it goes much quicker. And the freedom is nice, especially the "do I want to go or not" freedom! Just sit back and enjoy it, 'cause trust me, if you don't, it will eat you alive. Oh...the worst part...the price of books.

Yeah I start College on Monday. I am nervous and I am not sure what to expect. I already got my books. It cost my parents $228 something. My math book cost $80 alone. I'm not allowed to go away to college the first 2 years of college life. Cause my sister got drunk all the time and partied and then flunked out. I got to hand it to her though she went back to Ashland Teachincal College(paid for it all herself) and made a Pharmacy Tech. Now she wants to go back to school to be a Teacher. I shouldn't have to pay for my sister's mistake do I? My other sister was like you have to go back to school. I was like at least I am going to school to make something of myself unlike you.

I guess I'll be going to college next year. Gotta get senior year over 1st! I have no clue what I wanna do..I used to want to be a newsbroadcaster, but I don't want be one anymore. Gawd, I still need to take the ACT. I think I could focus more on what I wanna be if I didn't worry about stuff so much. The year after next, I'm going to a college extension to get my basic classes. ARRRRGGGGGHHHH, I don't like school anymore, & I don't want anymore of it!!!!

I graduated college in March. But I go back in a little over a month to start vet school.
I'd agree with the sentiment that the best part about college is the freedom. My best advice is to not get too distracted those first few years, especially if you plan on going to graduate or professional school, or have any condition (like scholarships) that require you to maintain a certain GPA. I really messed up my first few years, screwing around and all, and got my GPA lower than it needed to be. It is very hard to raise it back up again, and it gets harder the longer you have been in school. Also if you are having trouble in a class, do not hesitate to talk to the teacher. I know lots of people say this, and you should listen to them. When it is time to make the final scores, many teachers will take into account how hard you tried, etc. It's not going to make a difference between like a D and an A, but you could possibly get a boost from a D+ to a C-, which is what we in college call "PASSING!" ![]() If I think of more advice, I'll post it. If you can think of any questions, let us know. |
