I think my favorite character on “Emergency” is fireman/paramedic Roy DeSoto; the man always impressed me with his Gary Cooper-like self-possession, an individual who was always cool-in-the-clutch, no matter what the circumstances that he and his worthy colleague, John Gage, found themselves in.
Roy and John always maintained a cool professionalism, when tending to injured citizens. Roy also always maintained a kind, calming and extremely compassionate demeanor when providing medical assistance to the countless citizens he cared for. I venture to say that not even an atomic attack on Los Angeles County could faze the stoic and stolid Roy as he attended to the few survivors of such an attack. Yes, Roy DeSoto always displayed the very best characteristics of Gary Cooper, John Wayne and Audie Murphy in the execution of his sworn duties as a first responder. Los Angeles County was extremely fortunate to have such a courageous and selfless public servant as LA Fireman/Paramedic Roy De Soto! |
