ok well before i say this maybe they tried but i dont know
The way i feel is if the cast really wanted to continued they could of done a spin-offf at the end and maybe had another network pick it up.. because IMO the finale left off at would be a great startingpoint for a new series. I read someone said in their opinion the writers were running out of ideas... They could of got some new writers in the team - IMO. but i guess the cast/crew just wanted to moveon

maybe a spin-off possibility could've arose with Shawn and Jack in a dramatic spin-off, sort of like "Route 66"... something frothy, sexy, and light-weight on Sunday nights.

. . . only if the spin-off would've featured Eric as the main character. Shawn was too intense. Jack was too much of a surface character to be of much interest. Angela & Rachel were just excess baggage. I had my fill of the Cory/Topanga romance ad nauseum. The only one I could really take after the 7 years was Eric. They could've done a lot of interesting things with that character in a spin-off.

I agree I think what they should have done was have Eric heavily date someone or something like that to show us Erics not all that dimwitted and have a spin off of that

that's my biggest problem with the Eric character. i'm 25 and i have NEVER been so consumed with acceptance or thinking i have to act "macho" to prove my manhood. Eric symbolized, in my opinion, the care-free or careless (?) teenager/older brother type. i've got a younger brother myself but i make it a point to be in his life and know what's going on instead of being like many of my peers who could care less about their sibling's problems. Eric was GREAT to look at in magazines but when he spoke or carried on a conversation in his TV role, that ruined it for me.
