I do. Bea Aruthur played Maude on Maude. And Betty White played Sue Ann Nivens on The Mary Tyler Moore show.

I love the character of Sue Ann Nivens! She was one of my favorites on the Mary Tyler Moore show. I never saw Maude but I knew that both Bea Arthur and Rue McClanahan were on it.

I thought everyone knew that Betty White was Sue Ann Nivens. I actually didn't know that Bea Arthur was Maude until the fall of last year.... I to this day have still not seen Maude.
Oh and, I've seen the Mama's Family episodes and it's funny seeing Betty White trying to do a country accent. |

It is interesting that more people remember Sue Ann Nivens than Maude, since Maude was the one with her own show, and Sue Ann Nivens didn't join the Mary Tyler Moore Show until the fourth year. I, though keep forgetting Rue McClanahan was also on Maude.
When Maude was on I was very young, and the show, although a comedy, was too serious for me. It was the first spin off from All in the Family. Although I don't remember this, but read about this, Bea Arthur's character had the first onscreen abortion, which was very controversial at that time. Sue Ann Nivens is more remembered because more people watch Mary Tyler Moore reruns than Maude reruns. |

In the 1977-1978 TV Season,Maude and the Betty White Show were together on Monday nights at 8:00 and 8:30 p.m on CBS!! I know that the Betty White Show was canceled after 13 episodes in January 1978, and Maude left the lineup shortly thereafter after Bea Arthur decided to leave Maude! So that's where the similarities begin!!! Also Maude moved to Saturday nights that January as well!!!
