Default Alice never had kids or married

It seems odd that she likes kids, is bright, and attractive, and never got married before she worked for the Bradys. In her youth, she would have done a lot better than Sam.

Alice and Sam did get married. In one of the Brady Bunch movies, she mentions that he had a fling with another woman.

And Alice announced they were engaged at the end of the episode where all the Bradys thought they were going to elope.

At that point, I thought she said they were not even engaged yet.

At the very end, when she came in and the Bradys had arranged a surprise party (because they thought she and Sam were going to elope) she said they were engaged.

AFAIK there was never another mention of it during the series (but there were only a few episodes left anyway).

On Wikipedia it says she mentioned in a 1981 movie that they had been married 3-1/2 years.

OK, I didn't remember about that.

Are you sure? This is the end of that ep, no mention of an engagement that I can hear.

(I have no idea why the end of a Brady Bunch episode is age restricted and can only be seen on YouTube)

I went on Youtube and got the same thing--a TV-14 rating. BB TV-14? For real?

I was going on memory and the episode list on Wikipedia says it, too (and of course they're NEVER wrong!)

I'll see if I can find the episode. I know I have one of the seasons on DVD, but I can't remember which one.

She was attractive?

Yeah, Emma was a babe compared to Alice. Anybody could see the difference.

OK, the mystery is solved. No mention of an engagement during the surprise party near the end.

But in the tag scene:

Alice is in the living room talking to Mike and Carol, after Sam's cousin's so-called elopement:

Alice: Cousin Clara never looked prettier. It was the nicest elopement I ever went to.

Carol: Boy, it must have been, to have moved you so.

Alice: Even Sam was affected. We're engaged.

Carol: Alice, congratulations! When's the big day?

Alice: Well, I've got that pretty well pinned down now; the place, the hour, the date; there's just one thing he won't commit to.

Mike: What's that?

Alice: The century.

Yes, she mentioned in 1981 in the Brady Girls Get married she was married a few years earlier...maybe 1977 or so she got married to Sam. I feel had they known it was gonna end in season 5, they would have married them off. Season 6 for sure if they had one that would have been in advance to them the final one as Robert Reed wanted off and it was just gonna be so bad had he not returned.

If she had married Sam, her new surname would have been Franklin. His surname was mentioned in a Season 5 episode.
