Oh No My new job...

I have a new job at a school, but...my boss scolded me to work harder and do everything on my duty list in eight hours! She had to talk to me three times in one week...NOT good!

I had to even text her "I need help"...I can't do everything in eight hours every day in a week! I have the 90-day trial and I'm at 1/3 way through it! I love the pay, but...I'm afraid I'll be unemployed real soon!...

Given your post history I think it's a miracle you got a job. Just do your job. Stop complaining and get it done. This is a chance for you. Don't blow it.

So, besides being anxious, what do you do there? What’s the job entail?

I'm a school janitor...the biggest problem I have is to clean 18 tables in 5 minutes.

Good luck with your new job. Just do your best. Seems like the boss is very demanding. Best of luck to you.

Wow! That's one table every 17 seconds. Are we talking school sized lunch tables? or Are we talking desk-sized tables?
If we're talking lunch tables, with food potentially smeared all over them......then it sounds like they might have you intentionally "loaded up" with excessively high expectations. When you work by the hour, the faster they can make you work usually means more money in someone else's pocket......sometimes companies will wait for someone to quit, and instead of hiring a replacement they just divide their work and put it on the "lucky" people still working there.....and if it works the boss pats themselves on the back for the savings delivered.

You might be someone's hero if you make it work, or their goat if you can't.

I did think if you continue to beg for help, that's just gonna get you replaced. Better for you to insist the job can only be done properly in "X" minutes instead of 5....At least that's the way I'd do it.

But again, it's important for you to realize, the hurry they put you in, is just money they want to put somewhere besides your pocket. It's up to you to decide what's "fair".

Maybe you got hired because the last guy couldn't work as fast as they expected, either?

It's easy for an administrator sitting in their office to mentally "wash 18 tables in five minutes" afterall, you just dip the rag in a bucket and wipe, while walking around...<----that's what she thinks .

But when you smear peanut butter around on those tables....more time is required.

If that's the case, just tell them

Oh No More woes...

I was caught on camera again for letting someone in the school and my boss said "you can't do that"!

If I get caught on camera for doing something wrong...then **** that job! I'll just go back to school to learn how to repair a house!

Who did you let in and why? If this job doesn't work out, will you go back to the job you had at the church? What ever happened with that job?

I do have a side job at another church...and I'm supposed to be at a meeting about what to do at a school...I feel there's blood on their hands as well. (I think) that's the reason why I got a slap-on-the-wrist...figuratively.

But...if things don't work out...I'll take trade school classes on plumbing, electricity, and auto repair...to name a few.

And if things continue to not work out, an industry that has a lot of demand is the health and wellness world, the aging population need help and I know some people who do this kind of work, one has to be willing and dependable to help others and the aging. CNA's are needed all the time.

If you are willing to relocate to Anderson Indiana, I suspect they are looking to hire a new school custodian.
