Lol Themed-Restaurants where the Staff Berate the Customers

I love places like this - there's a spot in the U.K. called Karen's Diner where the staff berate, curse at, and are intentionally rude to the customers. The staff throw the menus on the floor and sometimes have the guests clean up their own tables when finished

In the States, there's a franchise called Dick's Last Resort. I went to one in Boston and loved it.

Gee, what's the probability that such unruly staff spit on the food before serving it? no thanks!

Of course, just what the world needs, more POOR/RUDE behavior!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With the spit they could flick some ashes in the food too...

It’s a gimmick for people who can handle that kind of atmosphere. It’s unlikely that they would intentionally do bad things to the food.

I've heard of this someplace. I think it's a great gimmick--guy asks what flavors do you have? Can't you read? It's right there on the menu. Etc.

Yes, love it!

Of course, the pansies who can’t handle it don’t have to go.

Ohm you know what they say about an actor once they get "in character"

I truly believe you (as well as most people) would be shocked at the things restaurant employees feel entitled to get away with.

Putting that reality in any environment where abusiveness is cultivated, seems pretty risky.

Think "mines bigger" type rivalry among co workers .....eeek!

Conan did a bit at a hot dog stand in Chicago where they abuse the customers

CONAN highlight: Jack McBrayer & Triumph the Insult Comic Dog pay a visit to Chicago's infamously hostile hot dog stand.

Nothing special here in NYC.

I tend to stay away from such places.

We went to this restaurant in florida that called everyone "Ma Lord" and it drove me insane!!

It was some kind of dinner where you watched horses while you ate......

EDIT:

Now they have a website (They didnt when we went in the 90s)

I guess it has a certain appeal...not for me.

On any given day in my neck of the woods

-You can repeat yourself 3 times when ordering because the food worker doesn't listen
-Receive the wrong order, even if it's a simple #1 off the menu with no substitutions
-Be told to park because your simple order is taking too long to process
-No napkins, or even a straw for a soft drink

No thanks. Why do I want to go to a restaurant and have someone be rude to me even if it is an act? How do I know its an act? What if the waiter goes too far? I have been insulted all my life, I dont like it. Who does? Life is insulting and degrading enough and there are places where we can get more of this? People deserve respect and friendliness until they show they are undeserving of it. Are workers so dying for employment that they will stoop to insulting strangers? I guess it isnt any worse than young women at Hooters wearing tight shorts and low cut shirts selling chicken wings to louts. Hooters (and Twin Peaks and whoever else like this) are disgusting and degrading towards women.

Restaurants now are obnoxious enough. Especially corporate chain restaurants selling the same thing in the same boxy brown buildings all across America turning the landscape into a bland sameness. Where it is more and more difficult for independent, local resturants to stay in business. Maybe struggling restaurant owners are thinking "Maybe we should start an insult restaurant. Maybe we should hire girls and have them where bikinis and high heels." I mean, is this the stupidity we are falling into as a culture? America and society are getting more and more stupid and arrogantly stupid every single day.

I dont know, it is to the point where it is much nicer to just stay home and cook for yourself and your family and friends. Support good local restaurants ran by good people. "Yelp" (despite their stupid name) is a great resource for this. What I want in a restaurant is a quiet place (no music), obviously good food, a waiter who gives me the menu and leaves until I want them, Wifi, and good beer on draft. Also, if any waiter wears a mask, Im gone.

It might be fun if each table had a "report" button that would summons a supervisor who would then come out and berate the ill behaved employee in front of everyone.

I imagine that way the customer might leave feeling uniquely "empowered".
