Remembering Mikey the famous star of Life Cereal commercials

If you grew up in the 1970's I bet you remember watching the famous Mikey commercials of Life Cereal but you wondered how Mikey became an important part of history in TV and commercials? Mikey made his debut in the 1970's Life Cereal commercials and was played by John Gilchrist. The other kids seen in the commercials were actually John's real brothers and when you look at it it's rare to see siblings all in one commercial together. It is unknown if this commercial was John Gilchrist's first commercial or he did other commercials before the Life Cereal commercials. Mikey retired in 1986 but in 1987 Quaker debuted a contest for people to identify who Mikey was for a money prize. The commercials remain a historic part of commercial history and "He likes it" "Hey Mikey" is one of TV's popular commercial catchphrases in history. As for John Gilchrist it is unknown what he is doing now as a grown-up

These ads would definitely be on some Memorable Commercials list. Along with Morris the cat/9 Lives, Mr. Whipple/Charmin, Rosie/Bounty, Jolly Green Giant, Josephine the Plumber.............
