How in the world did Kenny G get popular?

I have never ever figured out how on earth Kenny G is popular and why he seems to have a big fanbase. Is it because Kenny G is different than any other jazz saxophonist or is he liked for his amazing albums? Because when Kenny G debuted in the 80's his debut album made him a household name and he became a smash hit on jazz stations. And he has worked with singers such as Celine Dion Whitney Houston Peabo Bryson and Toni Braxton and Kenny G is well known at Christmas time because the radio stations play his holiday albums every year. I remember seeing Kenny G albums at the stores and couldn't believe that he is popular and I think that he will continue to be a jazz legend

^^^ Yesterday, I saw the Family Matters episode that included an appearance by a guy named Dave Koz who also played the saxophone. I wonder if there was ever any competition between the two gentlemen.

Why, what's wrong with Kenny G.?! I like Kenny G. and I enjoy saxophone music in general. And obviously lots of other people do too, he's quite talented at playing and he makes good music.
