Betty seems like such a different person having a totally different life than say the Cleavers or the Douglases.
I get that boys would have somewhat of a different experience but it seems like the 60s shows are way more advanced than the 50s shows. |

It would be interesting seeing FKB as a 60s show. In the 60s we started seeing married couples in a double or larger bed, like Samantha and Darrin and even Ozzie and Harriet (in the 60s, but not the 50s episodes). So we might see Jim and Margaret sharing a bed. We would probably hear some updated dialogue; maybe Jim wouldn't refer to someone as feeling "logy." I can imagine what it means but I'm too lazy to check. Maybe we'd see Betty take a civil engineering internship, and not have Margaret and Jim acting SO amazed. Maybe the guy assigning the tasks wouldn't urge the girls to take a secretarial "job." Perhaps Margaret has a part time job. Gee, just seeing it in color would be a major update.
As far as the Cleavers go, there is a much more modern feel to a 1963 episode than a 1957 one. But they only went so far--no double bed for Ward and June. Maybe a few more seasons would have made that happen. |
