All I know is it was sung by gospel singer Vanessa Bell Armstrong.

Andre Crouch wrote the theme song for Amen. He is a famed Gospel producer and artist.

I just realized the other day that the theme song changed SLIGHTLY in the later seasons. I'm not sure what was done but from the sound of it I can tell it was different.

The beginning stayed constant all five seasons. In the last season the ending music was changed to focus on a saxaphone lead with a lower tempo. I thought that was a good remix to the music. The lettering of the credits also changed from blue to white.

Another difference is on the pilot where you see the Deacon walking into the church. In this episode, you actually see him walk down some stairs and into the basement where the church offices are located with the music playing slightly lower in the background and the music stops when he talks to the secretary.

I think that's just a TV ONE thing. I'm sure if N@N or TVLAND aired Amen we wouldn't see that extended opening

Of course not, they are known as the butchers of syndication. Lets not even get started on skipping episodes.
