Thank You cards

I was taught and believe strongly about sending thank you cards. Over the past 2 years I have sent flowers to 2 funerals, sent 2 wedding gifts, and sent numerous money gifts as graduation gifts. Not one person sent a thank you. I don't know if the gifts were even received. These were all given to teens and young adults.

Don't parents teach or demand their children to send a simple thank you?! It is not only polite but good manners.

I want to hear your thoughts on this matter. Thank you!

Most teens and young adults don't send postal mail. Cards (of any kind) are a thing of the past for younger generations.

I get that but how about an email, a phone call or a message? Good manners should never go out of fashion. I blame the parents.

I get ecards for birthday and one friend still gives me a real paper card. Our generation was all about cards etc and today, another world. I do give a lot of thanks for those who help me and are good friends, but the young generation.... not so. They are so addicted to more and more tech.

Remember the 5cent postage stamp, I do. I believe that stamp is about 60cents now.

I'm in agreement with you, Marlene. It definitely falls back on the parents. My Mom taught me to send "Thank Yous" as a young child. It drives her absolutely insane when she sends gifts and doesn't hear anything. Like you said, it can be a phone call or email but even that seems to be lost these days.

Oh, the postal rates are crazy! I still send a few Christmas cards every year . I love receiving them. But the past few years I keep a list of who sends me one and I mail only to the ones on the list unless it is someone who can no longer send them , like an elderly friend or relative.

I either send an e-card or mail a Thank you card. I was taught that. And I was taught to say Thank you too.
