Default Regarding The Attire of Those in The “World Below”

The clothing worn by Vincent, Father and the other inhabitants in the “World Below”is very unique; They all seemed to be attired in clothing dating back to Europe during the Middle Ages. It’s almost as if they were in the film, “Robin Hood” or in an episode of “Cadfael.”

You would think that Vincent and the rest of that group of people would be wearing more contemporary clothing. Perhaps Vincent, being a very athletic individual, might be wearing an expensive gym suit, like the kind the venerable Paulie Walnuts routinely wore on “The Sopranos.” And, maybe Father (a/k/a, Dr. Jacob Wells) would wear conservative suits like Robert Young wore on “Marcus Welby, M.D.”?

By the way, apparently all of the inhabitants of the “World Below” were living deep in the tunnels under the New York City subway system because they could not take living in the real world, essentially existing as modern-day hermits. But, really, if you’ve ever travelled and commuted on the NYC subways, you know how absolutely God-awful the entire place is.

I mean, there is garbage everywhere, mice and rats are in profusion and the many homeless people are to be seen throughout the subway stations and on board the trains, sleeping, eating and openly observing “Nature’s call.” No doubt, many of the homeless people would inevitably make their way into the “World Below” creating a huge sanitary mess of the place. And, Vincent, Father, et all, would be constantly having to set traps and place poison to try and contain/kill all of the disease-bearing rats and mice, scurrying about Vincent and Father’s “underground Utopia.”

I don’t know how Catherine could have stood to have spent anytime with Vincent in such a filthy and disgusting place. The two of them should have moved to a nice beach house out in Southampton out on Long Island.

Well in fantasyland, the world below is a magical, clean and desired place to escape from the outside world.

If current New Yorkers knew about Father’s utopian society right below the streets of Manhattan, perhaps many of them would have decided to stay in “The World Below” in the Big Apple instead of fleeing, almost en masse, to Florida and South Carolina?
