Tuesday night marked the return of Password to prime time TV after the demise of Million Dollar Password in 2009. I did watch the premiere episode and to me, it was a lot better than Million Dollar Password, going back to the original format with one modification. Teams played to 16 points instead of 25 points and the first team to win two games won the match and went on to the bonus round, which resembled Alphabetics from Password Plus.
As for Keke Palmer as host, I though she had way too much energy for Password. The best way to put it, she was like Allen Ludden on steroids. Who saw the first episode? Your thoughts on the return of the classic word game. |

Whole tone of the show was too frenzied and loud. While Keke Palmer wasn't a totally awful host like Leslie Jones on Supermarket Sweep, she was nowhere near Allen Ludden and Regis Philbin's level either (yes I am a Million Dollar Password fan). Jimmy Fallon needs to take a chill pill, and the audience was annoying.

Why Password was chosen to get revived is beyond me. I saw clips of the Password revival on Youtube and I can see this show getting cancelled soon enough. For one thing having Jimmy Fallon be a part of this Password revival is odd and you can tell he is the main reason why the show might get ratings because it seems that when Jimmy Fallon appears on an NBC show it usually means the shows score high ratings. And from other clips I saw of Password just like CBS did with Million Dollar Password with the late Regis Philbin it is also a show to market NBC stars and just like CBS did with Million Dollar Password the show was used to promote CBS celebrities. As for Keke Palmer I don't know why she was chosen to host this version but she is a weak host and someone like Kelsey Grammer or Chris Parnell would've better choices for hosts but at least Keke made history by becoming the first female Password host. I don't know what Alan Ludden Bert Convy and Regis Philbin would think of this new Password revival if they were alive today because these three hosts of Password Password Plus and Million Dollar Password helped shaped Password into a hit game show franchise

It would have been cooler if it adopted the same format of 2 celebrities as the previous versions dating back when Allen Ludden was the original Password host at the time back in the 1960s & the 1970s. On the other hand, Having Jimmy Fallon on each NBC revived Password should merely remind us of Fallon’s Tonight Show “Password” Skit.

The Password revival has grown on me. I will keep watching season 2 (not officially renewed yet but just a matter of time).

Too much Jimmy Fallon. He comes across on the show as immature, juvenile or just Adderall-fueled. It detracts so much from a classic game.

When this was run on Fallon's Tonight Show it was fun. This stand alone version is too obnoxious to be considered a reboot of the original.
