Her real age would have been around 43 when the series started in 1969, according to her birth year 1926, from the Wikipedia link.

Yeah , I'd say that's about right. Alice was most likely supposed to be around Ann B Davis's real age , so like 43 to 48 or so when the show ended! That's what I thought mid 40's going into late 40"s or so.

Keep in mind back than being in your 40's was considered older than it is now more like being in your 50's !

LOL Old Maids were just over 20 and not married - ALL my older friends that graduated in the 60's were married at 18 - I'm still single - big change in the 70's

I think people certainly looked older back then... No offense to Ann/Alice but I would have guessed her to have been in her 50s. Same for Archie and Edith... Edith was just 42 when All in the Family started and Archie would have been like 47...... I would have guessed they were in their 60s! They always looked like senior citizens to me and reminded me of my grandparents who were in their 60s/70s at that time
