My sister recently hooked me up with the service known as Amazon Prime. Some of the movies and series that they offer I am able to watch for free on my Rocu device and some I have to either buy or rent. Because I have already paid to be able to watch the whole series of "Friends" through another service, watch it through Amazon is not an issue. However, a little over a week ago, I bought the third season of the "Simpsons" on Amazon. I will have to start another paragraph to tell you guys about an episode that I watched and why I am writing about it on the "Friends" page.
For those of you who do not watch the "Simpsons" one of the characters is called Krusty the Clown. One episode from the third season is called "Like Father Like Clown". In this episode we learn that Krusty's father is a rabbi who wanted him to become a rabbi. Krusty had a falling out with his father when he said that he wanted to become a clown. After Krusty and his father went their separate ways, Krusty picked up a lot of bad habits including, smoking, drinking and gambling. A brother and sister named Bart and Lisa got a chance to meet Krusty in person. He told them about his falling out with his father. They did their best to get the father and son to reconcile. Towards the end of the episode, we see Krusty going to his dressing room in the studio and having a smoke. His father walked in and said "that is a filthy habit". This whole situation makes me think of Chandler from "Friends" on three different levels. In the first place, the other five main characters on "Friends" were constantly trying to get Chandler to quit smoking. On top of that, in the same way that Krusty had a falling out with his father, Chandler had a falling out with his father when he and his mother split up. On several occasions, it was mentioned that Chandler was an only child. I would say that in this episode of the "Simpsons" it was strongly implied that Krusty was an only child. What do other posters think of my observations about all of the things that Chandler and Krusty have in common? |
