Default Apple Pie from Fall of 1978.......Quickest cancellations in TV history

Only footage of the show that exist is the opening credits........https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azCqZS4r5GE

The show was created by Norman Lear and featured Rue McClanahan from Maude that was about a Depression-era family trying to survive in the 1930's

The Pilot was never aired because TV stations managers all around the country didnt like it and ABC made some changes

The show produced a total of 8 episodes and only 2 were aired

The show made its debut on Saturday, September 23, 1978 on ABC at 830pm

The show competed with Good Times on CBS and Chips on NBC

After the first airing, the show ranked #51 out of 61 shows

After the 2nd episode, that aired on Sept 30, 1978, the show ranked #67 out of 67 shows and would be cancelled

The ABC sitcom Carter Country would take over the 8:30pm slot on Saturday Night

All the Bad Reviews about the show

Tallahassee Democrat's Lee Winfrey......."Apple Pie leaves a bad taste"

Austin American Statesman's Jon-Michael Reed...."ABC gets Pie on it's Face"

Tampa Bay Times Robert Bowden........"Apple Pie tastes Sour"

Tallahassee Democrat, Sept 28, 1978

The Province, Oct 7, 1978

Philadelphia Daily News, Sept 23, 1978
