Question When New WKRP started...

how did they explain what happened to the rest of the gang?

I know that Johnny, Jennifer and Venus made appearances, but what were they supposed to be up to in life?

And for that matter what about Andy and Bailey?

The New WKRP aired in first run syndication from 1991-93. Our local (then) CBS affiliate, WJW-8 in Cleveland, would run it on Saturday evenings after the news. I don't remember much about the show itself, but I remember the Big Guy, Herb, Les and even Johnny Fever were still around. I think the Big Guys' son also worked at KRP by then.

Thanks for the info, I wish I'd seen a few episodes of it. Wonder if it will make it out on dvd one of these days?

yes; it was in first-run sydnication; but then VH1 carried it in its last season.

But; to answer your question; from what I remember, I think Andy had moved to New Mexico and was training guard dogs or something, I think Johnny was now working at a radio station in Pittsburgh? (I think) and Venus was the owner or something of a Fortune 500 company. And, I think Jennifer was now also at another station. I don't remember if they ever mentioned Bailey. And Mr. Carlson, Herb and Les were still at WKRP. Mr. Carlson was still in charge (don't remember if his mother was involved, though) and Herb & Les were still in their same jobs. I only saw a couple episodes of it.

I remember a local station in our area carried it on Saturday nights; against the news.

Big Guy, Herb and Les were all with New WKRP from the start, and then Howard Hesseman began recurring as Dr. Johnny Fever. Loni Anderson and Tim Reid each made a guest appearance or two. The only original cast members that never came back (or were mentioned, that I recall) were Gary Sandy and Jan Smithers.
