"Lovejoy" was a comedy/drama, which ran for six seasons in the UK. Ian McShane stars as the irrepressible Lovejoy, an antiques expert or "divvy," along with the beautiful Phyliss Logan as his business partner, Lady Jane Felsham. Ms. Logan later appeared as the beloved Mrs. Hughes on "Downton Abbey."

Lovejoy gets involved with assorted shady characters as he attempts to appraise the value of various works of art and centuries-old antiques. The show is very witty and is fast-paced, with many familiar British actors appearing in the series.

"Lovejoy" was a big hit in the US, as it was first aired on A&E and also on PBS stations across the country.

If you can get the dvds of the series at your local library, I think you'll enjoy this sophisticated and extremely appealing British television show.
