My vote would go to Nat Hiken's Car Where 54 Where Are You. It had a very diverse cast for the period that it ran. Most other shows made it seem like the world was all White and Christian.

It probably wasn't until Norman Lear came that LGBTQ was addressed. First was on the All in the Family episode, "Judging Books by Covers". There Archie though that Mike and Gloria's friend was gay. Archie couldn't accept that his football player friend was gay. Later Lear gave us Hot L Baltimore with the first gay couple in a program's cast.

Both Hiken and Lear were ahead of their time. They took chances others wouldn't.
