(CBS) Canadian actor Corey Haim, known best for his role in the 1987 hit "The Lost Boys" has died, Los Angeles police confirmed Wednesday.

Officials said his death appears to have been accidental. Celebrity news Web site TMZ reports that, according to police sources, he died of an apparent overdose.

The 38-year-old actor had reportedly been struggling with drug addiction.

I was so shocked to see this headline this morning. He was one of the big teen idols when I was growing up. So sad to hear this news. I hope he is at peace.

Yeah, Lucas was a good one, I haven't seen the Lost Boys.

I haven't seen a whole lot of his work, but one other movie I thought had some funny stuff it it was "License to Drive". A lot of dumb stuff ended up happening, of course (like most teenage movies), but the first half of the movie was really funny and had some hilarious stuff in it. Corey Feldman was also in that one

It is sad. Drugs got a hold of this guy (after he first got a hold of drugs) and apparently never let him go. Always sad when something like this happens.

Yeah, I wonder if they will stop with the The Lost Boys direct-to-video sequels now.

I know that Feldman is currently working on the third one, The Thirst, and there was word a short time ago that Haim would be returning to the franchise in the next one.

We'll see what happens now...

So very sad, but unfortunately, not exactly unexpected, as Corey has battled drug addiction for many years...
