Robert Reed did 8 plays while at University or Illinois. A two year term study at RADA that time would have earned one a Certificate while 3 years would earned one a Diploma. One who had studied acting would have ended if passed with either a Certificate or Diploma in Acting unless one was doing graduate course in which case it would have two years and I think that one would been considered to be a graduate certificate holder. Did Robert Reed finish University of Illinois or “transfer” to RADA wee he complete either a certificate or diploma in acting?

Reed was trained as a Shakespearan actor and he was actually a good actor. The Brady Bunch show annoyed him because it was so silly and not realistic (and I agree with him, the show should have been more realistic of the times the show was in). I dont blame Reed for getting mad at Sherwood Shwartz, Shwartz was a hack.

It should been at least a bit more realistic. One of my main points he was alway ms very serious about acting even in High school drama class.

"Reed was trained as a Shakespearan actor" So what! "he was actually a good actor." There were a lot of good actors in TV at that time, Ed Asner wasn't a good actor, how about Fred Gwynne, Mike Connors, James Arness, Bea Benaderet, Buddy Ebsen, Hope Lange just to name a tiny handful. Good luck trying to get on a TV series if you can't act. "The Brady Bunch show annoyed him because it was so silly and not realistic" How about Mannix, how realistic was that, he appeared in 22 episodes as Lt. Adam Tobias. "I don't blame Reed for getting mad at Sherwood Shwartz, Shwartz was a hack". Well, that begs the question why did he stay on the series. What he wasn't familiar with the shows Schwartz was connected with, Gilligan's Island, It's About Time, My Favorite Martian, based on that list anyone outside of an idiot should have understood he wasn't signing on for Playhouse 90. If he wanted to do Shakespeare, then he should have done Shakespeare, who was stopping him. This was a family friendly TV series, a nice half hour of escapism. "Shwartz was a hack". He created two iconic TV series, and Reed was lucky to have been a part of one, it's the main reason people remember him. |

Shwartz was a hack and I wont back down from that.
Gilligan's Island was one of the dumbest shows every made. The Brady Bunch could have lent itself for more realistic topics of the early 1970's raising kids. Would have made for a better show |
