Found the graduation dates of Jim and Margaret - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

There was a thread talking about if Margaret graduated from State or dropped out. In S5, Ep4 episode Voice from the Past we learn that the graduation dates are for Jim in 1928 and Margaret in 1931.

So how did they meet if their graduation dates are three years apart? Did Jim graduate and court her while she was in school?

Do we know if Insurance was the only career Jim had?

Hmm, this might be high school graduation. Wait, did Margaret grow up in Springfield?

Since the Andersons go, under duress, to Margaret's reunions, you'd have to think Margaret grew up in Lemon Falls.

In another episode besides the season 5 one mentioned above, Jim says his class was 1933, so these are probably more continuity errors. Regardless of the years, it's pretty clear they met at State, wherever it is.

In the season 2 episode The Spirit of Youth there's more talk of the years involved. Another one is Margaret's Old Flame from season 6, where they attend a homecoming dance. At the end of that episode they sit on a bench outside and reminisce--probably years come up there, too. it strikes me in one of those episodes she is supposedly one class behind him.

Well if they are talking about being an alum of Springfield high, she had to be in Springfield at least for the last year of high school. I don't think she mentions leaving Lemon Falls other than for State College, so we will not know where Margaret was in 1931 unless someone finds another date in another episode.

In Spirit of Youth from season 2, Jim tells Bud he graduated from college in 1933. Other things:

Jim says the college (unnamed in this episode) is nearly 60 miles away. His fraternity's letters are PZ.

Margaret was the president of Iota Theta in 1933.

Margaret is 3 years younger than Jim and Jim claims he's in his early 40s. By his graduation year he'd be around 44 in that present time.

She was hoping he would wait for her after he graduated since she was three years behind him. However, there was no mention of her graduating--if she did, it would have been in 1936.

By Robert Young's real birth date in 2/1907, the graduation date from Voice from the Past makes more sense, but it should probably be class of 1929. Robert Young's real age when the season 2 episode was filmed was probably 48.
