Default Did you know that even with the appearance of Jack/Janet/Chrissy, the Ropers

first episode of the second season wasn't even in the top 30. It was ranked 37th after the first episode featuring the trio. Surprised, figured it would be a lot higher due to crossover.

Info from Fort Worth Star-Telegram, September 19, 1979,

Surprised the first show was that low. But the first short season was a ratings hit. I guess there must have been a better show on the night the Ropers premiered.

I figured TC fans would watch once they found out the trio would be on the Ropers. Plus the 1st ep of TC aired 9/11/79 and the Ropers first ep aired 9/15/79. So Im sure ABC was promoting the Ropers episode on Tuesday Night while TC was on for fans to know.

Also remember the first episodes of the Ropers were actually Threes Company episodes....the ones that only featured the Ropers house shopping. The one you brought up was the official first one but the ratings are surprising.

No the first episode of Ropers is an actual Ropers episode that was aired on ABC after TC on the night of March 13, 1979. The hour block that night was TC at 9pm which was Anniversary Surprise and Ropers at 9:30pm which was Moving On.

Its only aired as TC episode in syndication. Thats why I was confused as a child watching TC because I knew nothing about spinoffs and was wondering where the hell jack and the girls were lol

Would not Moving On be the first episode then? It did not feature the kids. Your first post stated surprise that with the kids in the first episode (Stanley, Ladies Man) generated low ratings. Would that not be the second episode?

Its my fault. You clearly said the first episode of season 2. My mind read too fast and thought you meant the first season. Its confusing because you mention a cross over for Chrissy and the kids. They were not in season 2. The crossover would be season 1.

There was no crossover with the Trio in season 1 of the Ropers. Only Larry who appeared in episode 6 of season one called Opportunity Knocks. The Trio appeared in the first episode of Season 2 called The Party.

Interesting. I suppose I am confused because in syndication they always show that episode as the end of the Ropers on TC.
It was a good cross over but now that you mention it, Chrissy looks different than the 4th season of TC and was getting into her platinum blonde look.

There should have been a few more crossovers, especially on “TC” after the Ropers were cancelled. Seeing Stanley and Helen in Seasons 6, 7, and 8 would have been cool.

I dont think it was necessary for them to be seen anymore after they was cancelled unless it was some sort special occasion like Janet's wedding. It was kind of silly that they appeared in season 5 but that was cool since they met Furley
