I don't think so. Only a guess as to why--there were probably too many local TV contracts in the early days of cable, to allow for a satellite network to have the show.
Of course it was a TV Land fixture for many years. |

Thanks, I didn't think it did. Your answer could make sense (though I admittedly don't know much about how that stuff works with t.v. reruns). I was wondering if for some reason the head of Nick at Nite didn't want to air it. I know I read somewhere he hated The Donna Reed Show and only begrudgingly had it on Nick at Nite. I know My Three Sons aired on Nick at Nite. Father Knows Best I don't think did. I'm sure he liked Leave it to Beaver, it's just a noticeable omission. TV Land seemed to have the ones Nick at Nite missed like Leave it to Beaver, Sanford and Son, and Mash. They probably wanted those three in the day but couldn't make it happen for some reason.

There could have been another reason N@N didn't have it. They had better access to Viacom properties (being owned by them). So it was cheaper to run Donna Reed and My Three Sons (and Dennis the Menace during the day)--their parent company owned the rights., while Universal owned and owns the rights to Beaver.
As for Father Knows Best, it and other old Viacom properties are full of old jump cut edits, even now--they simply matched the edits that were in the old 16 mm syndication films. So, they may have viewed it as unairable. I think at least season 1 of Dennis was remastered for them, IIRC. This theory kind of goes bad because Donna Reed is probably full of old jump cut edits, too. I do know season 1 of Father Knows Best was eventually remastered for or by TV Land, probably into complete episodes, which TV Land re-edited. These are the masters which SHOULD have been used for the season one Shout DVD sets, but weren't--they received a majority of syndication-edited episodes. |

Yes it airred on NICK at NITE during a Block Party Summer. I’m surprised they didn’t push this show after The Donna Reed Show & Dennis the Menace having Successfull runs on NICK at NITE.
Although Leave It To Beaver showed more popularity on TVLand and later Antenna TV. |

Father Knows Best and Dennis the Menace were and are owned by Columbia/Sony, not Viacom.
