Ben Casey and Vince's "forgotton tv series MATT LINCOLN should both be on dvd. Vince still has a tremendous fan base. There is a tribute to him playing on youtube with almost 10,000 hits. Matt Lincoln was a quality series that was never given a chance in 1970. ABC aired it at 7:30 opposite Flip Wilson and Jim Nabors. Can you imagine a drama series about a psychiatrist who ran a walk-in clinic and a telephone hotline airing at 7:30? Of course, it missed its target audience and was cancelled after sixteen episodes. There is also the pilot film titled DIAL HOT LINE, this aired as an ABC tv movie of the week. Mod SquadRoom 222 have already been released. Matt Lincoln was a quality series in the same genre, only better. The late, great Vince Edwards exuded empathy in the role of Dr. Matt Lincoln who was trying to reach out to college age students desperately seeking emotional help. This series couldn't be more topical. There were great guest stars such as Patty Duke, Martin Sheen, Darren Mc Gavin, Peter Deuel, Barbara Feldon, Joan Van Ark. A well written show that dealt head on with real issues. I am tired of distributors forgetting about Vince 's tv series. He is so missed by the public. Again, there are sixteen individual episodes, plus the pilot film Dial Hot Line that deserve to be seen again. Of course, the brilliant Ben Casey was a classic. That deserves a dvd release also. Please make your feelings known to these distributors. Paramount owns Ben Casey. Universal owns Matt Lincoln, though they license their shows to Timeless Media Group, and Shout!Factory also..
Vince Edwards was a great actor who never got his due from Hollywood and now, distributors. The public still love and miss him. |
