Ok...this is my new fic...um its kinda boring right now but it'll get somewhere.



Nate sat on the couch of his living room with his head in his hands. He’d had a pretty rough day. He didn’t even go to work. CD had to work alone. Nate felt bad for leaving CD, but he needed time to re-gather himself and his emotions.

Captain Kaitlyn McCafferty sat on the couch of her living room as well. Her day hadn’t been so bad, but Charles was getting on her case today. She recalled the events of the day in her head, ‘ Jinny and Magda were working on a homicide. Raina was nagging her and being a pain as usual. CD had to work alone because Nate hadn’t showed up for work’. Kate had pondered all day why Nate hadn’t showed up for work. Kate thought for a few minutes. She decided to pick up the phone and dial Nate’s number.


Back at Nate’s house, Nate had dozed off. When the phone rang he jumped up. His eyes were wide. The ringing phone scared him. Nate took a minute to gather himself. The ringing phone
only seemed to grow louder with each ring. “Alright already! Alright.” Nate said to the phone. He picked up the phone and spoke into it. “Hello?” “Nate?” the voice of Kate McCafferty came
through the phone penetrating Nate’s ear. “Captain?” Nate asked. “Yeah its me.” Kate said. “Hi Captain. Uh, how ya doin’?” Nate asked. “I’m Fine. Look, I was calling to see if you were
okay. You didn’t show up for work today.” Kate said. Nate didn’t know what to tell his Captain. He wasn’t sure if he could muster the strength to say it. Nate paused for a minute. He didn’t speak.

“Nate?” Kate spoke into the phone, “Are you there?” Nate snapped back into reality and answered Kate. “Yeah I’m here. Sorry.” “That’s okay.” Kate said. Nate decided to answer Kate’s initial question even though he was reluctant, “Captain, I didn’t come into work today because…” Nate’s voice trailed off. From her end of the phone Kate could hear Nate sob. “Nate, what’s wrong? Something’s obviously bothering you.” Kate said. “Captain, its just…one of my family members died and I just needed some time.” Nate said. “You wanna talk about it?” Kate asked. “No…Its hard. I…can’t.” Nate replied in a shaky voice. “I know its hard to lose someone, but its better if you talk about it. Look, its still early. You can come over and we’ll have coffee and you can talk to me about it.” Kate offered. “That’d be good.” Nate said. “So, you’re coming over, right?” Kate asked. “Yeah. I’ll be there in fifteen minutes.” Nate said. “Okay I’ll be here.” Kate replied.


Both Kate and Nate hung up their phones. Nate got dressed, got his keys and headed to the Captain’s house. Kate on the other hand was preparing coffee and asking herself why she even offered to have Nate over.

Okey Dokey...heres some more...


Nate arrived at Kate’s house around eight- thirty. It was pouring rain outside and Nate was soaking wet. Kate had just finished setting up the coffee on the coffee table when she heard the doorbell ring. ‘That must be Nate’ she thought. She walked to the door and opened it. There was Nate, standing out in the rain. “Nate, you’re all wet. Come on in. Let me take your coat.” Before Nate could even start to take off his own coat, Kate began sliding it off his back. “Uh, thanks” Nate said. “No problem. Have a seat.” Kate motioned towards the couch.

Nate took a seat on Kate’s white couch. Kate seated herself next to him. There was silence for a few minutes until Kate’s voice broke the silence. “So Nate, how are you doing? Are you okay?” Kate said while looking at the face of her inspector. “I’m okay. I’m still trying to grasp the idea that my mother’s gone.” Nate said in a shaky voice. “Your mother?” Kate asked. “Yeah. She died yesterday of cancer.” Nate said. “Tell me about her” Kate said in a soft, tender voice.

An hour later Nate was a wreck. His conversation with Kate had gotten so emotional that he just couldn’t control his emotions. Kate felt bad for him. She didn’t know what to say or what to do. She knew how it felt to lose someone close, she knew how hard it was. Nate sat there looking down at the cup of coffee in his hands. He couldn’t even drink it. He put it back on the coffee table and slouched back in his seat. Kate watched as he grew even more upset. She put her arm around him to try to comfort him. She then began massaging his shoulder. Nate closed his eyes. Kate never took her eyes off of him. She watched his every facial expression. She could almost read him like abook.

Tears came flowing down Nate’s cheeks. Still, Kate massaged his shoulder. She ran her fingers up his neck and began caressing his neck. This sent a shiver down Nate’s spine. He couldn’t believe this was happening and he didn’t want her to stop. Kate’s hand worked its way up to Nate’s head. She ran her fingers through his hair a few times. Then she stopped. Nate’s eyes opened, tears still in them. They looked at each other. Kate placed her hand on Nate’s face. She looked into his eyes. “Its gonna be okay.” Kate said while placing her other hand on the other side of Nate’s face.

They stared into each other’s eyes for a moment. Nate knew what he wanted and so did Kate. They leaned towards each other and kissed. It was a long intense kiss. Then Kate pulled away. She looked at Nate and Nate looked at her. There was a silence for a minute or so. Kate couldn’t help herself. She began kissing Nate again. Nate was kissing her as well. He worked his way down to Kate’s neck and began to kiss her. Kate enjoyed it. She was trying her best to let him know just how much she enjoyed it. Kate leaned back, now almost laying down, she brought Nate with her.

Two hours later, Nate was putting his clothes back on. Kate was doing the same. They hadn’t spoken to each other for a couple of minutes. All they could do was look at one another. “This wasn’t supposed to happen.” Kate said. “I know” Nate answered back. “But it was fun and I enjoyed it.” Kate said. “Yeah me too” Nate replied. Kate smiled. “Look, I uh…gotta go. I guess I’ll see you tomorrow.” Nate said. “Yeah, but not a word to anybody. Okay?” Kate said. “I wont say anything.” Kate stood up and walked towards the front door to say goodbye to Nate. Before Nate left he decided to give Kate a goodnight kiss and so he did. “Bye Captain” Nate said. “Bye Nate. See you in the morning.” Kate said. Nate left and kate closed the door.

The next morning Nate woke up in his bed barely remembering the night before. He knew something different had happened but he wasn’t sure what. His mind was elsewhere. He was still an emotional wreck. Nate got out of bed, walked to the bathroom, and took a shower.

Kate woke up in her bed, she was still tired and worn out. She took a minute to think about the night before. She smiled to herself. She slowly got out of bed and looked in the mirror. Kate wanted to look special today. She played with her hair a bit. “Eh, I’ll fix it later” She said out loud. She walked into the bathroom and took a shower.

Forty-five minutes later, both Nate and Kate were ready to head for work. Nate was dressed neatly. He even shaved this morning. Kate was dressed in her favorite hunter green suit. Instead of pants, she wore a skirt with a slit on the side. She figured that showing off a little leg wouldn’t hurt.

Kate arrived at the division before Nate did. When she saw that he wasn’t there, she panicked. ‘Did I scare him away?’ She thought as she walked into her office. Kate was just getting settled when she saw Nate walk into the division. She was relieved but she realized how nervous Nate looked.

Nate walked into the division and took his usual seat at his desk. He put his head in his hands. He definitely did not want to be there. ‘What the hell was I thinking last night?’ Nate thought. “Hey what’s the matter?” CD walked over to Nate. “I just have a headache” Nate said. “Oh” CD walked away thinking Nate didn’t want to be bothered. Just then Kate came out of her office with a folder. “Ok. Cases…” She opened the first folder. “Jinny and Magda. Another homicide. A young man, around 20 years of age, was found dead in an alley. No suspects. Nothing so far. Get on it.” Kate said. “Sure Cap no prob” Jinny answered. “CD and Nate. Let’s see here.” Kate said as she walked towards Nate. “There’s been a nice little robbery and murder down on Baker Street. Have fun.”

Kate looked at Nate. She put her hand on his shoulder. “You look sick. You alright Mr. Basso?” Kate said. “I’ll be fine. I think.” Nate said. “You wanna talk about it?” Kate asked. Nate looked down remembering that that was the question that had started this whole ordeal. Nate looked up at Kate and shook his head. “No…that’s uh…okay.” Nate said. “I’m always here when you need to talk.” Kate said. “No Captain. I’ll be fine. Thanks though.” Nate said. “Well anytime you need me you know where to find me. Okay?” Kate said. “Yeah. Thanks” Nate answered back. Nate grew terribly uncomfortable. As Kate began to walk away she smiled and winked at Nate. Nate looked down at the ground. He couldn’t believe how obvious it was that something had happened between them. “What was that all about?” CD asked. “I don’t know.” Nate shrugged.

Kate walked into her office, shut the door and sat down. She thought about last night and how much she liked it. She was in a daze for a couple of minutes. Then she snapped out of it. Kate began her work for the day.



Okay...that sucked and it was so boring. ugh..sorry guys...more later tho

An hour later Kate wanted to check on everyone’s progress with their cases. Kate got up out of her chair and walked out of her office. “Hey guys. How’s it goin’?” Kate said. “Well, so far, there are no witnesses or anything.” CD said as Kate walked by. Kate walked over to Nate’s desk. She smiled at him and leaned against his desk. “Jinny, Magda? Anything so far?” Jinny looked up at her Captain. “Well, we know the victim was shot three times. Once in the left leg. Once in the chest and once in the head. And so far there are no witnesses.”

Kate shook her head in disappointment. “Guys we gotta get cracking on these cases. Or else I’m gonna have Charles on my case for the rest of my life. Come on” Kate said. “Why doesn’t he just back off?” Nate said defensively. “Yeah I know. He’s up all of our asses every other minute.” Jinny said. “Guys, I hear you but I can’t do anything about it. He’s my boss. I have to eat whatever crap he feeds me whether I like it or not. Its out of my hands as of right now.” Kate answered her inspectors.

Kate started heading back to her office, but she decided to turn around. She walked over to Nate and put her hand on the back of his neck. “By the way, Mr. Basso, you look a lot better now. I hope everything is okay.” She said. Nate quickly stood up. He got so nervous that his reflexes caused him to jump. “Uh thanks Captain. “ Nate said nervously. “Yeah.” Kate said with a grin. Kate headed back to her office. CD questioningly looked at Nate. “What the hell was that?” CD asked. Nate shrugged it off once again. He couldn’t handle this. He just wanted it to stop. “Nate, Cap’s a nutcase. Don’t even bother thinking twice about half of the things she does. She’s just, you know, crazy.” Jinny said reassuringly. “Yeah. I’ll keep that in mind.” Nate said.

At that moment, Kate walked out of her office once again. CD, Nate. I need to see you in my office for a second. CD groaned. “What? What does she want now?” CD whispered to Nate as they made their way to Kate’s office. “Shut the door” Kate said to CD. CD did as she was told and took a seat. Nate however decided not to sit down. He stood behind Kate instead. Kate read over the case with them. “I just got a phone call. We have a witness.” Kate said. As Kate spoke to CD and Nate, Nate put his hand on the back of Kate’s chair and leaned over her shoulder. CD watched all of this with great suspicion. “What in the world?’ CD thought. Kate could feel Nate breathing on her. Kate looked up at him, “Uh Mr. Basso, could you uh…back off just a little bit?” Nate looked shocked. “Uh sure” Nate said. “Thanks ever so much.” Kate answered back with a smile. “Now, where were we?”

Ten minutes later CD and Nate were walking out of Kate’s office. Nate was waiting for CD to question him. CD thought it was best that she didn’t say anything.

The rest of the day went pretty smoothly. It was six o’clock in the evening. Jinny, Magda, CD, and Raina had all left the division by this time. Kate was still there going over some paper work. She heard a knock at the door. The door slowly opened. It was Nate. “Hi” Kate said with a smile. “Hey Captain.” Nate said. “Shut the door” Nate did as he was told. “Have a seat.” Kate said. Nate took a seat across from the Captain’s desk. “So…” Nate started the conversation. “So…” Kate answered back. “Look, I’m sorry about today. It was hard to keep myself together. I didn’t mean to make it so obvious.” Kate apologized. “Yeah I was worried someone would catch on.” Nate said. “How come you haven’t gone home yet?” Kate asked. With a grin Nate answered her question, “I was waiting for you.” Kate looked at him and smiled. “Oh really?” Kate asked. “Yeah. Any objections?” Nate said. “No not at all.” Kate answered back. Kate leaned towards Nate from her desk and whispered, “But you’ll have to leave before me just so its not too obvious.” Nate stood up from his chair. “Okay. Um…I’ll see you in the lobby I guess.” Nate whispered back. “Okay. I’ll be there in a minute.” Kate said with a smile.

Nate left Kate’s office and got his stuff at his desk. He put on his coat and walked out of the division. He headed towards the elevator and got in. He reached the lobby a few minutes later. He waited for Kate. Kate had finished her paperwork for the day. She got up from her chair, put on her coat and grabbed her bag. She exited the division and walked to the elevator. She got in. When she reached the lobby she found Nate waiting for her. They walked outside together. “So, whose house is it tonight?” Nate whispered. Kate smiled. “How about mine?” She whispered back. “Sounds good to me.” Nate said.

They separated and walked to their cars. Kate got in her car. Nate got in his. Kate drove off and Nate followed. When they reached Kate’s house, Kate parked her car in the driveway and got out. Nate had parked his car down the street and walked back to Kate’s house. Kate was waiting for him at the front door. When he got there she unlocked the door and they both walked in. Kate took her coat off and hung it up in the closet. She took Nate’s coat and did the same. “Nate, I have to change. I’ll be right back. Just sit down or something.” Kate said. “Okay” Nate answered back. Nate sat down on the couch and waited for Kate. Kate walked upstairs to her room to change.

When Kate came back downstairs Nate was stunned. He couldn’t believe that his Captain could look the way she did. Nate saw her and his jaw dropped. She was dressed in a red, silk nightgown with a silk robe over it. Her hair was down and it just touched her shoulders. Nate stood up and just stared at her. “Do you like it?” Kate asked. “Its…its…wow” Nate replied. Kate walked towards Nate. She stood right infront of him. He looked at her in amazement. For him it was still like a dream. ‘This can’t be happening…again.’ Nate thought. Despite his reluctances, Nate kissed Kate. Kate kissed him back. They kept going at it until Kate pulled away, just like she had done the night before. She looked at Nate. She took his hand and said, “Come on.”

Kate led Nate upstairs to her bedroom. They began to kiss again. Nate untied her robe and took it off. Kate unbuttoned his shirt. Nate sat down on the bed and Kate crawled on top of him.

The next morning Kate woke up. She turned over and saw Nate. He was still asleep. She looked at him and smiled to herself. She looked at her clock and realized she was late for work. And so was Nate. “Oh geez.” Kate rolled her eyes. She looked at Nate and began to shake his body. “Nate wake up! We’re late!” Kate yelled. Nate jumped up. “What!?! We’re late?. Oh great just great. This is all I needed.” Nate said. “Just get up. Lets go.” Kate said. “You should go home and get ready.” Kate suggested. “Yeah. I will.” Nate said. Nate got out of bed and started putting his clothes back on. Kate got out of bed as well. She looked at Nate and laughed. “What?” Nate asked. “Nothing. I just never thought I’d be having an affair with any of my inspectors.” Kate said. “Hey. I never thought I’d be doing this with my Captain.” Nate answered back. Before Nate left he gave Kate a kiss. “Oh, wait a minute. Try to get to the division before me. Just so its not so obvious. Okay?” Kate said. “Will do” Nate answered. “Good. Now gimme another kiss.” Kate said with a smile. Nate did so and left Kate’s house. Kate headed to the bathroom to take a shower.


I know this is boring....but tell me wut ya think anyway.
