In Season 5, no one but Howard Hessemen left the show. It was the final season of HOTC, and it was time to move on.

However, Maria, Janice and Jawarhalal left after Season 3 into Season 4.

Billy Connolly would get a spin-off show of his own called simply "Billy". It only lasted for one season though.

IN2TV currently has one of season five's episodes up. I think it's episode 2. So, you can watch and see the differences.

I really loved Billy in the role. Howard Hessman will always be Head of the Class but Billy was excellent in the role. He was funny and kept the show full of life and his role helped to get Ms. Meara more air time and some sexual tension and chemistry between the two. We also get to see more of a comical side of Ms Meara.
