Default The first season Facts of Life dorm set was recycled...

For years, I had heard rumors that the FOL set from the first season (the main dorm level) had been recycled from another show. As it turns out, that show was "Co-Ed Fever", an extremely short-lived Animal House-style show (six episodes were filmed; only one aired).

Check out this clip of Eastland School before it was Eastland School.

I heard that too. Someone else had posted about that here a few years back. Not only did it have the same set, but it used the same font for the credits that FOL would later use for Seasons 7-9.

Same font, too? Haha, good eye!

I guess what surprises me the most is that they made so few modifications to the set before re-using it. I think they swapped out the back door, because the back door of the Eastland dorm is more ornate. They added a grandfather clock... and I think that's it.

Whoa! What a rare find RetroGuy, awesome...also, I do believe they used a season one bedroom set on an episode of Maude when she is reunited with an old friend. I remember being amazed when I saw that.

Plus, at the 19 second mark, a bonus Valerie Bertinelli sighting. And a horrible CBS slogan.

Guess it's not so rare; checking the old messages on this forum, someone already noticed this back in 2012... oops! But it was news to me. When I saw that clip, I had to share it with my fellow FOL-lovers. I was all, "Whhhhaaa??? What are those college kids doing in Dorm B?! And where are Cindy, Molly, and Mr. Bradley? And why is there a jukebox and a piano in the dorm? And where did the clock go? And who's that old lady?"

So they recycled a dorm room that had been on Maude? Was it the left bedroom or the right?

Oh it's been a few years since I saw it, I'd have to see it again. But we did have more than two bedrooms in our favorite dorm, lol; there was the girls' "main" room, Cindy (and unmentioned roommates') room, and Blair's room. It could have even been what became Mrs. Garrett's room, but I do think it had more of the "feel" of the girls' upstairs rooms.

At least they were able to save money by recycling.
