I'm well aware of how Blair,Tootie,Natelie and Jo ended up living with Mrs.Garret in the Eastland cafeteria throughout seasons 2 to 4.But,correct me if I'm wrong, the change of scenery from season 1 to season 2 seems unexplained. They didn't seem to show us how or why the girls left the Eastland house and moved into the dormitories.I know that Mrs.Garret had been promoted to being the school diatician, which is why she moved to the cafeteria. But whatever happened to Mr.Bradley? Was the house where Eastland girls spent their first few years, before eventually moving to the dormitories?

Natalie and Tootie burned the house down because they were smoking jellybeans in that bong they bought from the record store.

![]() The real reason that the season 1 set was never seen before is explained in the episode "The New Girl". After the 1st season ended, NBC noticed that the ratings for the first season were not at all promising for the show, though it was supposed to be cancelled after the first season due to all of the low rating, NBC decided to give it one more chance and keep it for one more season. Due to all of the low ratings from the first season, lots of changes had to be made to raise the level of the show. After the first season, the beginning of the second season, four of the girls were fired, and the group of seven girls was trimmed down to only three. NBC also had to make more serious episodes and better scripts, they needed to add a character that would bring the show up. NBC also had to change the set, the eastland dorm set was changed to the eastland cafateria set. In the episode"the new girl" EVERYTHING (if you watch the whole episodes) is explained why the dorms set isn't shown anymore and the other four girls. The girls got in trouble and had to move out of the dorms and move into the room above the cafateria. They had to work in the kitchen to pay off for the damage of the school van. After all of these changes, Facts of Life began to rise up and became a more promising show for NBC. Thats the explanation why it was completely changed after the first season. Hope this information helps. |

If you look closely at the set from season one, it was the same set used for the show "Maude" but with different wallpaper and a couple of walls moved around.

Yes - "Tandem" ... I actually liked the first season set, it seemed cozier than the cafeteria, but the house attached to Edna's Edibles seemed the coziest set of all!
