Way before becoming a sitcom star on Friends and playing the character Sandy who was the late boyfriend of Tracey Gold's character Carol Seaver on Growing Pains Matthew Perry was a commercial star who appeared in a commercial in 1987. The commercial he appeared in was a Pacific Bell commercial and in it Matthew Perry played a telephone operator trying to help a guy call someone and was really funny. It's hard to believe Matthew Perry would become more well known when Friends debuted in 1994 aside from his sitcom debut on Growing Pains and getting started doing commercials gets you well known as a celebrity and that could be said about Matthew Perry's career
