Controversial "Puerto Rican Day" episode aired today - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I thought it would be a cold day in Hawaii before I would see the Seinfeld episode "The Puerto Rican Day" but I guess I was wrong. On XETV Channel Six in San Diego, I just finished watching that episode. I am not lying. Nothing extreme was done in the episode except the accidental burning of the flag but everything else was just like every other Seinfeld episode.

Yeah it was also on today on the philadelphia and new york fox stations as well as many stations. They finally decided to include this episode in the syndication package.

I never understood why this episode caused such controversy. Sometimes I think people can be too sensative.
I'm glad they decided to put it back into syndication.

Yeah it aired in New York today. Also last week "The Inventations" aired in New York. Finally all the Seinfeld episodes are airing in syndication.

Yeah it isn't even bad, the only reason that I can think that it was banned was because Kramer gave information on how to screw the insurance company. Not that anyone didn't know how to do it. It wasn't ban worthy.

No the reason it was banned is because of the scene where kramer burns the flag by accident. The Puerto Rican community casued a stir about it and nbc never aired it again. And it was also decided not to show it on syndication either untill recently.

lad it is available... I had thought it was even an on location in NYC episode, until I heard the commentary, it was just another NYC city street set in Hollywood.
