Default Our Miss Brooks? December Bride?

Have any of these two shows ever been in syndication? I know they where hit shows in there day, but I don't know too much about them. I know Gayle Gordon, played on OMB, but was these shows as popular as I love Lucy and The Honeymooners/Jackie Gleason show?

I remember back in the 70s, a local station in my area used to show some sitcoms from the 50s on weeknights, and those 2 shows were among them. So yes, they have been seen in sydnication-at least; back then.

I don't know how popular "DECEMBER BRIDE" was, and the TV version of "OUR MISS BROOKS" but I know that when "OMB" was on the radio show it was REALLY popular; in fact Eve Arden who starred in both as high school teacher Connie Brooks, got a lot of requests from schools to appear as a speaker.

They were both hit shows. December Bride was a top 10 hit between 1954-1958. It came on after I Love Lucy and Make Room for Daddy so that helped. Our Miss Brooks also was a top 25 show for 2 of it's seasons. It wasn't as big a hit as December Bride but was critically aclaimed. Eve Arden even won an emmy award. I don't know why these shows have rarely been seen in syndication. I've never actually seen them and I grew up in the 70's too. Treky you are very lucky to have had a tv channel air these shows. I did see the 1956 theatrical movie of Our Miss Brooks which starred the regular cast though. My PBS station aired it sometime in the 1990's.

@ Stuck in the 70's, for the info. That's very interesting. I just read on wikkipedia, that December Bride, was produced by Desilu Productions. I don't understand why this show never really been in syndication but yet insteal, most of the Desilu libary has been in syndication....

Both shows were aired in syndication up through the 80s. They are amongst many shows no longer seen due to the fact that their syndicator (Viacom, now CBS) never bothered to transfer the episodes to tape and when stations ceased to use 16mm prints for air, there were no elements to be had for these 2 series. I'm sure if someone wanted to buy them badly enough, CBS would sell it to them, provided of course that whoever wanted them paid for the film transfer costs.
