Default Norman Lear Had a lot of Short Lived Shows....

None of these are complete or in existance to us are they? I think someone said Hot L is in UCLA, anyone know the where abouts about any of the others.

"The Martha Raye Show" (1955)
"Hot L Baltimore" (1975)
"The Dumplings" (1976)
"All's Fair" (1976)
"The Nancy Walker Show" (1976)
"All That Glitters" (1977)
"A Year at the Top" (1977)
"Apple Pie" (1978)
"The Baxters" (1979)
"Hanging In" (1979)
"Palmerstown, U.S.A." (1980)
"a.k.a. Pablo" (1984)

On Norman Lear's birthday a few years ago TV Land showed some of his 90's series so that is why I didn't list those.

Never knew the Nancy Walker show was a Norman Lear show.

I thought that was why you wanted it. That one he did produce, but some like the first one listed he just wrote for, he was still involved with the show though so that is why I mentioned it.

No I wanted it because I wanted to see if it was really that bad like all the other short-lived shows but It's going on 4 years and haven't found it yet

I remember All That Glitters was kind of contemporary to Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman. It would be interesting to see how it would fly today - gender role reversal has been much more of a comedy staple than it was in 1977.

Why do I think Mickey Rooney was originally supposed to be in A Year at the Top?

I think I remember reading or hearing, somewhere once that they orriginally wanted him for the lead.
I know they first wanted him to star in ALL IN THE FAMILY.

I can't imagine Mickey Rooney as Archie Bunker! I remember hearing that on the E! True Hollywood Story that he was their first pick or something.

that's cause you're so used to seeing Carrol O'Conner in the role.

True....
But I don't think he would've done as great a job...maybe it's just me.

Also don't forget about 704 Hauser and Sunday Dinner and that other one with David Hyde Pierce (name not coming to me), his 90s failures.
