Default Oliver Twist

I've tried reading this book like 5 times but I just can't do it... I tried again tonight and didn't make it past page 5. This book is not making sense!!!!!!!!!! I'm getting frustrated. Dickens' sentences are like a paragraph long.. wah im mad. Anyone here read it?

I watched the movie in 7th grade band and it disturbed me. It's really weird.

Here Jeff...lemme help ya...

Once upon a time there was a boy. He worked in this...place...and sung lots of really dumb songs about gruel. He was kicked out and sent to live with an undertaker. Then he met the Artful Dodger, prolly the coolest character in the movie. Mmhmm. And he was a pick-pocket. Oliver, lil stupid kid that annoys me to death was one too. Got caught. Went to court. Went home with some dude that ended up being his great uncle. Was kidnapped. The nice lady freed him. The nice lady was killed by some grundgy dude with a crow bar . Big chase scene. Dude kinda...swung on a rope...got shot...I think and was like hanging. Kid went home with the nice rich great-uncle.

Drawing my own conclusion: Obnoxious lil kid needed serious therapy afterwards. O well, I hated him NEwayz.

Jeff, I have 2 words for you: Cliff, notes

Yea I noticed that on Cheers Frasier was reading A Tale Of Two Cities to everyone at the bar:

Frasier: "It was the best of times it was the worst of times..."
Norm: Which Was It?

That may be a little off topic but..anyways..

Dickens is a little confusing..the movie scared me....I saw it awhile ago but I think it gave me nightmares..

I've tried reading that book also as well as other Dickens' books and I couldn't get into them either. The way they wrote back then is very hard to understand. I really liked the movie "Oliver!" though. It's one of my favorite musicals.

ya I've seen the movie (and liked it .. lol) but this book isn't written in English I swear lol... and I've read Great Expectations and I was able to understand that so Dickens musta just made this one extra hard.

Dickens! holy crap, The most boring, mind numbing stuff you'll ever read. I feel bad for you, I wish I knew about Cliff Notes back then, I might've gotten through it. The only thing worse than Dickens is Shakespeare. But that's just my opinion.

I have read this masterpiece before. I do have a problem though. I hardly remember the story. It has been so long ago.
