Exclamation Has Anyone Seen this Episode?

There was a particular segment that always disturbed me involving a young man who, while sitting at home, was talking to his girlfriend over the phone. She had just gotten of work and was calling form a pay phone. as the conversation progressed she mentioned there was a man sitting in a car close by who looked suspicious. all of the sudden she told her boyfriend that the man was walking over to her and he heard a scream and struggle on the other end of the line. He jumped in his car to drive to where she was calling from - which was close by - and as he was driving towards the parking lot, a truck passed with his girlfriend in the front seat struggling and screaming for help. The boyfriend - trying to save her- did a sharp u-turn, but it must have been too sharp because his engine fell out and he was unable to follow the truck. His girlfriend was never seen again.
Has anyone seen this episode - and if so, anymore information on it would be greatly appreciated.

I remember that story. It's a pretty old one. As far as I know there hasn't been any updates on it. The main thing I remember about that was the truck had some sort of a fish decal on the rear window which made the vehicle stand out.

I remember this one too. I always hoped for an update but have never seen one. I thought it was so sad that he was chasing them when his transmission failed.

The name of the abducted girl was Angela Hammond. It happened in Clinton, Missouri, in April of 1991.

Maybe he did something to his tranmission so he couldn't follow him. Maybe he been planing this for weeks and know where the house is and did something I would mess up his tranmission after driving some many miles.

Yes, I remember the story. The girl was named Angela Hammond who was abducted in Clinton, Missouri in 1991.

A very scary story, but I don't think the boyfriend did it. Angie just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Her boyfriend, who is named Rob, remember, was driving an old station wagon when he was chasing her kidnapper. The reason the car broke down was because he severly damaged the transmission when he threw it into reverse before he had to turn it around.

There were a few other missing cases around that area of Missouri and time besides Angie's case, in one case, a woman actually ended up dead. There was probably some sicko kidnapper around those area's in 91 that was most likely responsible for Angie's dissapearence.

Well, this is going to sound weird...but I have been thinking about this episode for years. I live about 100 miles from where this happened.

What I want to know is - when they did this episode and they did the reenactment, were they just guessing at what the suspect, the guy in the truck, looked like? Because I only saw this episode first but when they flashed a scene on the screen with the guy looking out his back window, if I remember right, he looked just like someone I know (in fact, is somehow related to me), but have not had contact with for many years. I mean exactly like him. And the guy I believe lived in or near Clinton at the time, possibly Windsor. But I have no idea what he drove.

I obviously don't want to implicate someone if they didn't do anything so the first thing I wanted to know is whether this suspect portrayed on TV was supposed to look like the person who kidnapped Angela, or if they didn't really know what he looked like and the person wasn't necessarily supposed to look like him.

I thought this was probably just a coincidence since they didn't really give a description fo the suspect except to say he was wearing overalls and had the fish decal in his back window. I mean they didn't go into detail. But the picture on the screen looked so much like this person it was uncanny. I have been hoping to see the episode again to see if it was my imagination, and hopefully tape it so I can really get a good look because that part was so fast I didn't get a close look.

In fact, when I found this website tonight I was searching for information on this show, which I have done before but have never been able to find anything. They don't have Angela Hammond listed on the Unsolved Mystery website so I thought I'd never find anything. Luckily tonight I found this.

Sad

I still remember this story too. It really got to me. I used to live a few hours from Clinton, MO and would always look for this guy's truck hoping to help with this case since it's such a heartbreaking story. I thought when I saw the story on Unsolved Mysteries that the police had cleared the boyfriend through phone records that showed he was talking to someone at that pay phone. I also thought I remembered Angela was giving her boyfriend Rob a description of the creepy guy when she was on the pay phone since she thought he was acting weird and that was how they determined what to make the guy look like in the reenactment. (Plus, didn't Rob get a glimpse of the guy when the truck turned around and flew past him???). I don't know, I could be wrong on that, it's been awhile since I have seen this story but I wish they would give an update since I would like to know if they ever found her and/or her killer. My thoughts and prayers are with her and her family whenever I am reminded of this story and I still look for the truck with the fish mural in the back window. I really hope someone can update this story.

I do know that they have never found her. I think two of her grandparents have died since then. I found them searching online. In one of the obituaries it lists Angela as a granddaughter and it says she preceded them in death but her body has never been found. I live 100 miles or so from Clinton so my local news would have the story if she were found.

Angry Hammond

was likely abducted and murdered by Kenneth McDuff who committed several murders around that time frame after being out of parole for a series of murders in the 60s I believe. McDuff is considered the prime suspect in this case and was executed a few years back on an unrelated murder charge.

Later.

Thank you very much for the updated information!! If it was Kenneth McDuff, how sad to think that this crime (and others) could have been prevented if he had never been paroled. He had been committing murders since the 60's and he was paroled??? What were they thinking?! Thank goodness he can't hurt anyone anymore but how sad that we may never know what happened to her.

I used to live in Rolla, Missouri, which isnt all that close to Clinton, but it seems that there is a lot of crime in central Missouri. My stepfather is a former prosecutor in central MO, and he's got his share of stories (as all prosecutors do, I'm sure). Now he's one of the state's defense attourneys for capitcal punishment crimes.
