Who do you think Don Knotts played better: Barney Fife or Ralph Furley of Three's Company?
I think Ralph Furley because I really don't like the TAGS very much. |

Barney Fife without a doubt. Furley was just an updated city version of Barn in a leisure suit. Not that Knotts was bad as Furley, it's just that he is Barn first, last and always.
That was Don Knotts character in pretty much everything he did and nobody does it better. |

Barney all the way. I loved him also as Furley. He was so much better than the Ropers IMO.

I liked Barney better, but after watching Threes company alot the last 4 or 5 months, Mr. Furley was pretty darn funny.

Don Knotts was good at playing his nervous, can't-hide-anything character in just about everything he did, including as Furley in 3C. But it was TAGS in which he really fine-tuned that character, and it went far in making the show the hit that it was. 3C was already a hit as he took over, and I don't think he improved anything over Stanley Roper and Helen. He was still funny, but he wasn't the primary comedy element that he was in TAGS and his string of movies. So I say it's as Barney Fife.

It's easy to see how Don Knotts won all those emmys for that role. |

First how could you not like Tags? I dont think i'm out of line when I say its the best show ever made, its great for kids and adults.
Don Knotts will always be remembered as his role as Barney Fife so obviously I pick Barney over Ralph. |

Barney for sure. The show soured after he left. Sure there were some good eps after his departure, but it wasn't the same.
