Default Breakin' up is hard to do...

heeeeellllllppppp....

I need some advice guys. I decided yesterday that I have to dump the guy Im currently dating. The problem is I dont want to totally devestate him (hes majorly obsessive and Im not quite sure how he'll deal w/ it)
How should I do this, as much as I want to say "I just want to be friends" thats soo much of a cliche that he wont believe its sincere.
Ugh, this is so annoying. Also I feel bad cause hes been on vacation and I havent seen him in a couple weeks.
Any advice, please?

I know how you feel Titania. I was in a situation like that before
we started to loose interests, but I didnt want to make him feel bad, but i didn't think he liked me in that way any more so I waited for him to dump me. lol i don't think thats very good advice though, lol. but just tell him that you just wanna be friends.
thats usually what I do.

Be honest with your boyfriend. Don't try to prolong it and it will be better in the end. I like what you said to start with. This just really isn't working out. We are just moving in two opposite directions. I really do care for you, and I hope we can still be friends. I just feel that we need to end it here so we can be friends in the end. If we wait any longer, I think it would tear up the relationship and our friendship. I would hate to see it come to that. You could say something like that to him.

Jenny has some good points, but I have to disagree on one thing.

Do not tell him "we can still be friends."

We hate that.

Do not leave him with the thought that you could reconcile.
In our minds, if she wants to still spend time with you as "friends", then there is a possibility of getting back together.
Which leads to more awkward things down the line.
A clean break is best.
Be honest too, that is appreciated.

Yeah, what he said is right. Your situation sounds like mine last summer. If u still live w/ your parents, tell him they don't want u dating anyone right now, lol! What everyone else said sounds good.

Try this----

Hey___________(state ur boyfriends name here) I have been thinking alot about us and our relationship. It's not working out the way I had hoped. We have drifted apart this summer. I have become really independant and I would like to have a break from being in a realationship rite now. But, if you would like, I would really like us to remain friends.

I dunno-thats what I would say in your situation. Just play it cool.
