Vangelis, known for his hit song "Chariots of Fire" which was in the 1981 Oscar winning film Chariots of Fire...has died at the age of 79.

In new age music there are superstars that really can prove their stuff and there are musicians that are known for their amazing sound that make them famous for years to come. Vangelis certainly fit that description to a T and when Chariots Of Fire came out when the movie of the same name debuted in theaters it made Vangelis a huge success and when you hear the amazing intro of Chariots Of Fire you can see why the song was a successful hit and the anthem of many sporting events. And Chariots Of Fire has also been seen in many movies such as National Lampoon's Vacation to Jingle All The Way and it's no secret why this song became Vangelis's signature hit because it's a great song. Even when new age artist Yanni made his debut in the 80's Vangelis still was the top artist of new age music. But Vangelis will most likely be discovered by a new generation of fans who will discover him now that he's gone but will leave a legacy by the many fans who adored him. If you like Vangelis another artist you'll enjoy is Ray Lynch who is amazing and his album Deep Breakfast is worth checking out
