Did Andy and Helen ever marry? Did they have any children?...boys/girls?

Yes they did marry. In the first episode of Mayberry R.F.D. Later on they had a baby named Andy Jr. Andy, Helen, and Andy Jr. came back to Mayberry to choose a Godfather for little Andy Jr. Ironically, Opie does not appear in the Andy Jr. episode. In the 'Return to Mayberry' movie Andy Jr. was not mentioned once, they figured that people had prob. forgotten Andy Jr. even existed.

-and in the Return to Mayberry movie there was no mention or sign of Ken Berry either.I wonder if that was the writers just saying that they didn't think much of Mayberry RFD?

Pretty much seems the writers of the reunion movie (I don't know who they were) just didn't even think about or. even know anything about Mayberry RFD.

It's an annoying continuity gap, though.

Unpopular opinion here.

I really don't understand the need to marry Helen and Andy. Sure they were a Mayberry item and in a long term relationship. But neither of them ever matured or changed their attitudes. The whole episode felt rushed.

I think the only reason to get them married would have been to have both of them making regular appearances on RFD. I guess both Andy and Aneta were insulated as to how unpopular the Andy-Helen relationship was to die hard TAGS fans.
