There is a thread like this on General Sitcoms, thought I would make one for the game show board.
Split Second is a much better Monty Hall game show than Let's Make a Deal. I can't stand Match Game. (I do like its extended theme song on my theme songs site though.) Richard Dawson is a horrible host, he mumbles too much. While I like the Regis verison of Who Wants to be a Millionaire, I really prefer Greed and Weakest Link from the same era that were not as popular. On another Millionaire note, Chris Harrison was a really dull host. Alex Trebek has had success elsewhere. But his version of Double Dare sadly got overshadowed by the Nick at Nite Double Dare with the same title. Deal or No Deal is a beyond dumb show that does not deserve its success at all. Grand Slam and 500 Questions are outstanding game shows that sadly got poor ratings. Tattletales is a lousy show. Michael Strahan's trashy version of $100,000 Pyramid is garbage, he has ruined the franchise. |

To me, The $100,000 Pyramid continues the legacy of Bob Stewart's biggest hit. It's still the basic format and set design that lives on since its debut in 1973.

I like the current reboot of Weakest Link a lot more than the original (even though I do like both).
I can't stand George Gray as a Weakest Link host. He's too much of a sweetheart for it. |

Drew Carey is a terrible game show host, especially when compared to Barker.

When it comes to Double Dare(1986-1993 era), Classic Concentration, Concentration(Narz), Sports Challenge & Starcade...these were one of Pre-1990 classics that didn’t air on Game Show Network

*Bob Barker is monumentally overrated as a game show host. Way too conceited...I'll take the Carey eps. any day.
* "Greed" was better than "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" * Louie Anderson was just fine as host of "Family Feud" * "Match Game" isn't even in my top 10 favorite game shows. |

The 1960s version of (The) Match Game (NBC) was better than any of the post-1973 incarnations.

My favorite version of Match Game is the 1990-91 version.

Bill Cullen was the worst game show host ever. I always got bored out of my mind watching him. He was extremely dull and boring.

![]() …and on another note, I can’t stand Leslie Jones as the host of Supermarket Sweep. It’s not a good sign when I have to turn down the volume when the host is talking. |

Bill Cullen hosted more game shows than anybody. He hosted 23 game shows and was a guest on many others throughout his long career. I have watched many of his shows and to me he was the right fit for the show. The only show that didn't seem to be the right fit was The Joker's Wild, when he replaced Jack Barry, who passed away in 1984. Dan Enright, who took over the production company after Barry's death chose Cullen over frequent substitute host Jim Peck. Peck was much better at the show than Cullen. He kept the show moving while Cullen dragged the show down to a much slower pace.

I haven't seen enough of the new Pyramid to form strong opinions, but it seemed fine compared to some other revivals. I did like the set. Strahan is affable and pretty likeable in his work, so the show could be in worse hands. |
