Default Pizzeria Pizzas

I might go months without ever eating a pizza, but when I do, I know what I like...and my recent experiences with both Pizza Hut as well as Papa Johns have been huge disappointments.

Historically, I've always seen Pizza Hut as dependably "good" although not always great....and then there is "everybody else"

For decades whenever buying a pizza hut "supreme", there were always ample toppings, usually so much that it was unavoidable to have excess pieces tumble off. But, you paid for this excess. Pizza Hut was never gonna be your bargain darlin

Two weeks ago I thought it was about time for a pizza, ordered up a Pizza Hut Supreme, and was awed by the lack of toppings, once I got it home. Oh each group was represented by token slivers, scattered sparsely across the pie...but it left me feeling frustrated, as though somebody else got my pie.

So, yesterday I tried to make it up to myself...the TV commercials for Papa John's stuffed crust pizza appear fairly lush with fixings. So I order a pepperoni and mushroom pizza with stuffed crust, and particularly remembering my bad experience at Pizza Hut, I opted to pay extra for "extra pepperoni"....thinking that would at least hedge my bet.

Get it home, and it looked like a cheese pizza. I was so pizzed....oh there were shreds pf mushrooms and pepperoni hidden under the cheese....but NOTHING like what I thought I'd be getting for $20.....just kept thinking "THIS IS EXTRA PEPPERONI?"

So I guess this must be a product of the overall "inflation" bit? The big chains have evidently decided to exploit the pandemic mentality where we are just supposed to be thankful we are getting ANY PIZZA? Are the corporate offices just looking the other way while their franchisees soil their image and reputations with such thievery? Have official orders been sent out to become miserly with toppings?

I'd always expected to get screwed at Little Caesars, because they promote themselves as bargain basement, but never expected the skrewgie from PH and PJ the way I just got

Life as we've known it is going down the tubes.

I think I'll go for an indie shop if there is a next time

I have had Domino pizza delivery over the years and it was just fine and affordable and in recent times a place here called Dagwood's and it was OK and so costly...

Now I refuse to spend $20 or so on a pizza so I buy nice frozen gluten free personal sizes and they can cost up to $8 and often less.

The Dominos shops in my area do a good job, and they have the best deals on carryout. I live alone now -- I usually wait to buy pizza until the rare occasion I can share one with my niece. Some places will let you have different toppings on each half.

Permission denied grammar nazi. I even looked it up before posting, and the claimed correct spelling looked ********...so I decided to stay with what I personally preferred. I doubt seriously that anyone missed my intended meaning.

I remember years ago, I used to feel abused in the wallet when buying pissurea pizza. Now they leave me feeling just plain ripped off. But I guess if you complain and ask for a replacement, they just spit on and do other nasty stuff to your food.

Just being honest, but I've never eaten a frozen pre-made pizza that didn't taste like one.

Some spellings don't make a whole lot of sense.

(Just like we drive on parkways and park in driveways.)

As far as frozen pizza, I've tended to like ones with self-rising crusts best.

Well, whatever, things change and one has to change with the change....The pizzas I buy seem to be OK..don't taste frozen variety. I buy Newmon's, Calif Pizza Kitchen, DiGeorgio, Open Nature (our store's gluten free variety) and like to keep a couple in the freezer for when I get an urge. I'm out of all pizza now and will be cooking up Trader Joe's sockeye salmon filets today.

Since my life has changed so much due to damage from hip surgery, I have changed so much of what I used to do and what I can do now.

I choose thin crust as I like to keep the carb content lower.

And for the spelling issue, nothing in the whole scheme of it all. So what if a word is spelled wrong or something isn't perfect????? Some need to forever complain about something.

I fixed it for you. I change thread titles all the time.

Nothing beats Chicago-style deep-dish pizza.

Hasn't there been official guidance regarding "spelling corrections" given here on these boards?

I could have sworn I've seen stevea and I seem to faintly remember even you mentioning that unless an "error" is sufficient to impact meaning, that we not be petty about enforcing spelling issues.

Did I just imagine that?
