I was listening to a talk show Sunday night on New York's WABC-AM 770. They were talking about a lawsuit brought against McDonalds, Wendys, KFC, and Burger King from a man who became fat because he didnt know fast food was bad for the stomach. He says the fast food places MADE him fat so therefor he is suing them.
The next day I was watching tv and notced a large amount of commericals for lawyers. Urging folks to sue if they were in an accident, medical mistakes, sex, divorce, ect... One even went as far as saying that one can sue for "defamation of character". Meaning if you went to say Wal-Mart for example and the cashier has a nasty attitude and gives you a hard time. You complain to the manager , send a letter to the main offices about the situation , however he/she / the store takes her side and does nothing. Even in that situation , the rude cashier can sue YOU for "defamation of her character". According to the tv commerical she can do it. Now I have heard everything!!! Now I can see someone suing , say they were hit by a drunk driver for example. But to sue someone for defamation of character because he/she said something you didnt like. Thats overboard !! I would love to see tv stations cut back on such commericals but I know..fat chance as long it brings in the cash for them. Sad to see this country go "lawsuit crazy". Its getting to the point that maybe its best to say and do nothing. |

Ya know, your attitide in the previous post really hurt my feelings.
You'll be hearing from my lawyer. See you in court! Seriously though... Frivilous lawsuits are a complete waste of time. And yet we all wonder why the court systems are so backed up. |

I don't think its right. So what you're saying is if I smoke 5 packs of cigarettes a day for lets say 20 years, and I get lung cancer you mean I could sue? That is crazy. It's up to me. Its my decision to put a cigarette in my mouth and smoke it. Its up to me to buy fast food every single day and cram it in my mouth. Most fast food is greasy, but I really didn't know it wasn't good for me. Honestly, I didn't. I think I'll sue the Hersheys company next.
What will people think of next?
