I've got an idea for those that are interested....

I was just sitting here reading posts when I got an idea. Has anybody heard of The Beaver Papers book? It's stories from the lost season. Except instead of the typical plot lines it has different stories in the book like the LITB cast with a Twilight Zone kind of plot line.

Would anybody be interested in writing another lost season? This might be a cool idea if I'm explaining it correctly. We could write humorous stories or twilight zone kind of stories with the Beaver cast. It could really show the imagination of the Beaver fans.

Who likes the idea? Anybody interested in doing stories? If I can come up with a good story line, I'll post a story.

The True Story of Eddie Haskell
The Diary of June Cleaver

You are about to read a story that has happened. You will enter the mind of a housewife named June Cleaver. June lived in the perfect town, until one day when it all started to unravel for her. People that she knew disappeared out of the small little town of Mayfield. Soon she will be up against the unknown.

Monday, June 16th

It was a dark and mysterious morning. The kind of morning where you knew something was going to happen that turn everything upside down. I was the first to wake that fateful day. I got out of bed and prepared Ward and the boys breakfast. Ward was oversleeping, and that was very unusual. Ward was prompt getting up every morning. I don’t know why I decided to let him keep on sleeping. It’s just that Ward works so hard that I figured he needed a few extra minutes to rest. After waiting a few more minutes, I decided to make the trip back upstairs to wake him up. I can only keep the coffee hot for so long! I opened the door to the bedroom and walked over to Ward’s side of the bed. It was empty except for one little thing. A doll was in the bed. It was just about the size of a little GI Joe figure. I noticed a little string coming out of the doll’s back, so I pulled the string. I examined the doll some more as the little string went back to the doll’s back. The doll looked a lot like Ward. It looked so much like him that I felt the chills running up and down my back. The doll finally spoke, “My name is Ward Cleaver. Time to get to the salt mine Fred.” This got me to worrying. Ward had disappeared. I find a toy doll instead of my husband. The doll says his name is Ward Cleaver. What was going on? I quickly woke the boys up because I just had the sixth sense that something peculiar was going on.

Tuesday, June 17th

It’s happening again. Ward hasn’t come home yet. That doll is freaking me out. I put the thing in a drawer, but when I turn around the doll is sitting on the bed. I had to tell the boys that their father went on a business trip. I felt bad lying, but I was just in the position where I had too. I went out to get the mail this morning and I saw Eddie Haskell in the neighbors yard. I tried to sneak out to the mail box as well as I could without Eddie seeing me. Didn’t work. Just as I pulled the door open on the mail box, I heard Eddie’s voice. “Good morning Mrs. Cleaver. That’s a pretty dress you’re wearing today.” He walked off whistling before I could reply. I looked down at my feet and saw something buried in the grass. I bent over to pick it up and I saw another one. It was a mailman doll. He had on a mailman uniform and had his little mail bag over his shoulder. A tiny little envelope fell out of his bag. I picked it up and saw it was addressed to me. I collected this doll and didn’t attempt to open the envelope either.

Wednesday, June 18th

My nerves are frayed like an old toaster cord. Did I say that? Ward scolded me all the time about jerking the toaster cord out by the cord instead of the plug. It’s painful to think of Ward. I find 6 other dolls today. Beaver wanted to play with some of them to use on his electric train. I told him no and that he should do his homework. Some of the townspeople have disappeared. In a small town like Mayfield, its noticeable. Every doll I found looks just like one of the townsfolk. I don’t know if I need a vacation or if I’m having a nervous breakdown. I saw Eddie Haskell today. He came over to play basketball with Wally. I don’t like that boy. I always told Ward the boy was trouble. I feel it in my bones that he may be the one responsible for all these disappearances. I’m worried about Wally and the Beaver.

Thursday, June 19th

Wally’s gone! It happened the same way it did with Ward. Beaver had to get to school early, but Wally overslept. I went to go wake Wally up and Wally was gone. Instead of Wally, I found a Wally doll. When I pulled the cord in his back, it said that his name was Wally Cleaver. I don’t know what to do. I got so worried that I went to Beaver’s school to sign him out early. I went to the main office and I found toy dolls in all of the employees chairs. This sent me to worrying so I ran to Ms. Landers class to take Beaver out myself. I saw about 25 toy dolls sitting in 25 toy desks. I ran out of the room screaming.

Friday, June 20th

Eddie came over today. I’m more than suspicious now. Over the past few days, more people have disappeared. It would just be my luck that Eddie was the only person remaining in this town. I think I would rather be stuck with Larry Mondello, even if I had to stockpile up on food. I decided to hitchhike out of town. All the cars have disappeared along with the people. The next town is only a few minutes away. The next 2 towns are the same as Mayfield. I didn’t see a single car or a single person. I keep hearing Eddie Haskell’s voice in my head though. Over and over again, I hear him saying “What about it Sam?” I came home and I locked the door. I just heard a knock at the door. I think its Eddie. Maybe if I pretend I’m not home than he’ll leave me alone. I don’t know anymore. I just don’t know.

Saturday, June 21st

I get the feeling I won’t be along very much longer. After this entry, I will hide this diary. This diary must be found years later. I found out the truth to the dolls and the disappearances. It is Eddie Haskell. It was Eddie Haskell all along. He has some kind of power. I spied on him last night. It isn’t black magic or witchcraft. I don’t know what you could call it. We are a work of his imagination. He is making a model town or some sort. I heard him talking to himself. Mayfield doesn’t even exist. None of us exist. Ward, Beaver, Wally, the townsfolk, even me never existed in real life. Eddie must’ve had this planned all along. He designed a miniature town as a model. He built the houses for the town. He crafted the people next. The people seemed so real that maybe I created them in my mind that they were real life characters. My memories are quickly fading of life in Mayfield. Eddie has robbed me of everything. I can’t remember the day that I supposedly married Ward, or the days that Beaver and Wally were born. It’s quickly leaving. I’m glad I wrote down the past week, because I’ve already forgotten. My mind feels like I’ve blacked out for the past week. I can only remember some, but even that is getting hazy. Where did I leave off at? Eddie has plans. He has big plans. Nothing will exist after Eddie gets to a new town. He’s leaving this place behind. He will only take his miniature town with the little dolls inside the perfectly crafted houses with him. He’ll start in another town where they have people just like this town. A fictional town that was created in one person’s mind as real, but never existed in this universe. I feel that I’m soon about to disappear. It won’t be too much longer. I’ll be the last to be replaced by a small little miniature doll. I’m about to put down this pen and put this diary in a safe place. If this diary does escape Eddie’s Mayfield, and if you do read it- you better watch out. Chances are if you find it, then the damage may already be done. Eddie may already be in your town building another town that connects to the towns that he already has. Who knows how many towns he’s already gotten too. Maybe there are other diaries, just like mine that tells of the horrifying secrets that Eddie Haskell has. Did he even go by the name Eddie Haskell in the last towns? I’ll never know. I’ll never know.


June’s diary ends here. When the diary was found, a little toy doll was found near it. The doll looked exactly like June Cleaver. And when somebody pulled the cord on the doll’s back, the doll spoke. “My name is June Cleaver. I’m worried about the Beaver.”

Thanks, Jenny! I really like it. Next to Beaver, I Love Lucy is my next favorite show and I was looking on a Lucy site and found several good Fred and Ethel pics that would make great avators!

Larry Mondello and Beaver were invited to Judy Hensler's birthday party which, Of course, neither of them wanted to go to, but when they get there the party is not at all as we Beaver fans would expect it to be, given the history of Beaver and Larry's adventures in Mayfield?

Larry and Beaver are walking along the sidewalks of Mayfield on their way to the party. Larry says, "I don't even like Judy Hensler, Beaver, my mom said I had to go to her party or she wouldn't make any chocolate cake for desert for a month."

Beaver says, "Yeah, my mom kinda made me go, too. She said Judy is a nice young lady and I gotta be a gentleman to her. She even made me wear this tie." Beaver yanks on his tie as if it's choking him. "And she made me bring this present. It's a handkerchief, except I don't think Judy's supposed to blow her nose with it."

Larry says "Yeah my mom made me wear a tie, too." Larry's wearing a bow tie, and he somehow looks perfectly normal in a bow tie. He holds up a gift wrapped box and says, "I don't know what this is my mom got for Judy. I hope it isn't something really embarrasing like nylons or worse."

When they get to Judy Hensler's house Beaver rings the doorbell. There's no sound coming from inside the house and Larry says, " Gosh Beaver, maybe the party got cancelled or we're at the wrong house. Maybe we'd better get out of here, Beaver."

Beaver says, "No, Larry. I don't think the party got cancelled. That would be too lucky, and I know this is the right house because I saw the egg stain on the walkway from when Judy and Violet Rutherford (Lumpy's sister) clobbered me and Whitey with a whole carton of eggs last halloween."

Then Judy opens the door. She's dressed in a sophisticated, fine looking dress. Her hair is styled nicely rather than her usuall girly looking pig tails. She politely thanks Beaver and Larry for coming to her party and invites them in. We watch the door close behind them. In the next scene we're inside with them and everyone is dressed in the same sophisticated type fasion as Judy is, including Larry and Beaver, and everyone is also acting sophisticated and grownup.

The party plays out somewhat like an old Fred Astair and Ginger Rogers movie. Judy and Beaver dance together spendidly as the gang surrounds them, looking on admiringly. Larry has paired up with Violet Rutherford. They spend much of their time siping punch and talking intimately in a corner of the room. At the end of the afternoon, Judy sees her guests out, shaking hands and thanking each one for attending. Even Whitey was well behaved at this party and didn't say anything goofy, as is his want. Judy kisses Beaver on the cheek and then holds both of his hands while saying good bye.

In the next scene Larry and Beaver are walking home, wearing the same clothes they were wearing on their way to the party. Larry has cake smeared around his mouth, Beaver has a dark stain - punch maybe - on his tie. Larry says, "Boy, Beaver, that's the last time I hope I ever have to go to one of Judy's parties. She's even meaner at her house than she is at school."

Beaver says, "Yeah, Larry. What a lousy way to have to wreck a whole Saturday.

I think you deserve to take a few bows yourself. I loved your story. You told me the basic idea of it through email, but it just made it all connect here on the board. I loved it!

Jenny and Kitt--I'm very impressed. That's something coming from me as I haven't watched Leave it to Beaver since I was a kid (light years ago, lol) . I'm not familiar with all the characters--only the Cleavers, butt-kisser Eddie Haskell and the blonde kid (Lumpy?).
I enjoyed reading both stories as they venture into the world of The Twilight Zone. They both held my interest.
Kitt, I loved the back to reality ending--very clever.

Off topic, but--I'm curious--was it ever explained why he was called Beaver, and was his real name revealed?

His name was Theodore. I'm not sure about where his nick name, Beaver, came from.

In answer to your question. Beaver's real name was Theodore. How Beaver got the nickname Beaver was in the very last episode of the series. Wally had trouble pronouncing the name Theodore when Beaver was born. It came out sounding like "Tweeter". Ward and June thought Beaver was a better sounding nickname than Tweeter.

{His name is Larry Mondello. He moved with his family to New Jersey about 6 months ago. He has had a hard time making new friends. He has hardly seen his father at all since the move, and his mother only makes him miserable with her complaining about Larry and his older sister, and sometimes with her slapping and pushing him. Larry has become so confused he can't even remember where it was that he moved to New Jersey from. He vaguely wishes he were back there-- wherever it is-- yet he also fears what he can't remember; perhaps it's worse than what he knows now. But for the last few months he has found a weekly diversion. On Saturday nights he shuts himself up into his room and turns on his television. There is a half-hour show which gives him an unexplained feeling... a feeling of belonging, a feeling of acceptance, a feeling of good times that he wonders whether he himself has ever had.}

Wally: Boy, Beaver, did Dad really give it to you this morning for being so dumb last night as to climb that billboard and fall in the soup?
Beaver: No, he didn't really yell at me this time. He just wanted me to tell him how it happened. I did, and then he told me one of those lessons you might expect teachers to read from those old books.
Wally: Yeah, I know how it is. But Beaver you gotta quit letting the other guys talk you into doing stupid things. Whitey, Gilbert, and Richard all seem to do that to you. It seems to me you were better off when Larry Mondello was still your best friend.

{Larry stares at his small television and a cold fear trickles down his spine.}

{Wally and Beaver both get a strange look on their faces.}
Beaver: Gee Wally, it happened again. It's Saturday night, and for some reason we brought up Larry Mondello, and it gives us a real creepy feeling.
Wally: Yeah. I can't seem to figure it, but it's happened every Saturday night for 3 or 4 months. But we never found out what happened to Larry. He just disappeared a couple of months before this started.
Beaver: Gee Wally, you don't think Larry was really a spirit or something, and he keeps haunting us every Saturday night so we won't forget him?
Wally: {unconvincingly}Aw heck no, Beaver! We're not watching One Step Beyond or anything.
Beaver: Well, I wish this would stop. I don't like going to bed with a real spooky feeling about Larry every Saturday night.
Wally: Okay, Beaver, let's make an agreement that next Saturday neither of us mention Larry Mondello for any reason-- not for any reason at all. Maybe if we break this for just one week we'll forget it.
Beaver: Okay Wally.

{Larry takes all this in clasping his hands tightly and his spine still tingling.}
Larry: I can't believe it! I must be from Mayfield and I used to be Beaver Cleaver's best friend! I always thought I had some friend somewhere! Now he doesn't know what happened to me, and I just found out what happened to me before we moved here. I must not belong where I am now; that's why I don't have any friends here! But Mom and Dad won't even talk about where we used to live and why I can't remember it. {He pauses in thought}. But Beaver's just a TV show! How could I be from there?

Beaver: You know Wally-- it does feel kind o' different about Larry now...I guess 'cause I think this is gonna be the last night we feel like he's here, or he's watching us, or whatever it is.
Wally: Yeah, I know what you mean. But I think we better stick with it and remember not mention him next Saturday.

Larry: No Wally!-- Hey Beaver! Don't quit talking about me! If you do I probably won't see you every week on this show any more!

{Wally and Beaver both cringe.}
Beaver: Ooh-- now I feel REAL spooky for some reason-- like Larry don't want us to quit saying his name.
Wally: Yeah; I felt that too. It sure is weird!

Larry: Beaver!--how do I get back there with you? I don't like it here where I am!

Beaver: You know, Wally, I sure wish Larry never went away to-- wherever he went. Then we wouldn't have to worry about feeling so spooky. And besides, I'd have probably spent the night at his house last night, instead of Whitey's, while you had your party, and I don't think I'd have climbed that billboard if it was Larry that gave me the business-- because I always expected Larry to give me the business.

Larry: That's right, Beaver! I wouldn't make you climb a billboard! But please let me come back!
{Larry's mother enters his room.}
Mrs. Mondello: Larry! What in the world is going on in here? Who are you shouting at? {She sees his television on and looks at her watch.} Oh, Larry! Don't tell me you're watching that same television program that you take much too seriously every Saturday night!
Larry: Sure I am, Mom! And tonight it's even better! {He stops, because he doesn't think he could make his mother understand his interest in what he had just seen.}
Mrs. Mondello: Alright, Larry, you're turning that machine off and you're coming downstairs right now with your sister and me!
Larry: No Mom! Please! I want to see the rest of this show! It's real important tonight!
Mrs. Mondello: Important!? Oh, come now! It's nothing but a television show! Your life doesn't depend on it!
Larry: {Under his breath}I think it does.
Mrs. Mondello: {Gives Larry a nudge} Alright, you're coming down stairs this minute!
Larry: Bye Beaver!
Mrs. Mondello: "Beaver?" What on earth are you talking about, Larry? Was that show you're so obsessed with about rodents?

{Wally and Beaver are now in their pajamas and getting into bed. They feel more "spooky" and confused than ever. To their relief Ward and June give 3 knocks and then come into their room. Their parents have confused, worried faces, which is unusual for them, thought the boys-- at least it's unusual for when they come to say 'Goodnight.'}
Wally: Mom-- Dad... is anything wrong?
June: Yes. We just saw a television show which rather startled us.
Beaver: A TV show startled you? Which one?
Ward: It was that new show, The Twilight Zone. We turned it on a few minutes after the show started, and tonight it was about a boy who had moved away from his friends and felt miserable in his new home. That boy looked just like your old friend, Larry Mondello. And the boy's mother came into his room and she even looked a lot like Mrs. Mondello.
{Wally and Beaver are incredulous.}
Beaver: Gee, Dad, it was Larry? Where was he?
Ward: Well, he was somewhere in New Jersey, they said.
June: Yes boys. But about halfway throught the show we just couldn't stand it any more. That boy looked so much like Larry it was unreal. But then your father happened to remember a phone number Mr. Mondello gave him not long before they disappeared without telling us they were moving.
Wally: Wow, Dad, is it the Mondello's new telephone number? I mean, Beaver's been kind of wanting to find Larry again.
Ward: Well, I thought that's what it was. And that show, uh-- agitated-- us so much that I decided to call that number to check .
Beaver: {Excitedly} Was it the Mondello's number?
Ward: No, Beaver-- I'm sorry. It was answered by the Missing Person's Bureau. And we asked, and they say there is no one with the last name "Mondello" on record.

{True friendships never really die-- even if they're *true* only in a person's mind. They always meet again... somehow...some way...somewhere in the Twilight Zone.}
